So why is that issue of Batman numbered as 708 when Snyder had nothing to do with Batman 708 originally?

Mock ups it seems, just to give an idea of what the new DC logo would look like (plus that's not even 708s cover)

Go back and buy all the Warren Ellis' issues - they've been brilliant. All done in one - buy the latest issue for a great Black Widow story.

Year One I'd say. Although many people here may be able to give a better recommendation. I've not read too many Batman comics myself.

Anybody used this site before: http://www.disposableheroes.co.uk/ :?: How are they?

For already finished and collected stories which you can buy on Amazon here's a short list,

Year One
The Man who Laughs
The Long Halloween
Dark Victory (Do not read this before Long Halloween as it's a direct sequel)
Hush
Gotham Central Volumes 1,2,3,4
Batman and Son
Batman: Private Casebook
Heart of Hush
The Black Mirror
The Dark Knight Returns

The Black Mirror is one of my favourite Batman stories of recent times and it's a nice companion piece to Year One so yeah get those two.

The currently ongoing series "Batman" by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo is also very good and you can probably buy all 5 of the currently released issues through DC's Ipad app.

Volumes 9 & 10 of USM done with. It's times like this I wish I had more money. :fp:

EDIT: Checking on Amazon and Volume 11 is dispatched within 1 to 3 weeks. But that's the one with Carnage. :x I can't wait that long.

I really wouldn't advise skipping that volume either because ,as you might expect, important things happen.

Just read Green River Killer a graphic novel of a true crime story of a Seattle serial killer. The author is the son of the lead detective. Was a brilliant read and I recommend it to everyone.

I want to read this too. The guy who wrote it also used to do the awesome 'Lost' column for Entertainment Weekly. 'Doc' Jensen.

I know what happens in this (someone spoiled it for me  ), but there's absolutely no way I'd skip this volume. No fookin' way.

I've been reading through Powers (nearly caught up) and although it's utterly fantastic I have to wonder why they're making it into a tv series, most of it's best moments won't make it onto the screen without drastic changes :(

I'm trying to get back into comics but I'm finding it hard to. Any suggestions for decent superhero titles?

Stuff I've tried so far - various X titles - nothing has really caught my eye, I just don't seem to be abe to get into them like I used to (Lobells run was the last time I collected but have tried them on and off since then. I did enjoy Agent X though).

New 52 - Love Snyders Batman, everything else has left me cold. Which is something considering I don't usually like Batman

I've looked at possible Invincible. Super Dinosaur looks like the kind of straight forward fun I've been missing from comics. I enjoyed Science Dog but obviously that's not an ongoing series.

Surely there is something out there for a jaded comic fan

Please do not post this in the "No Context" thread

If you like Batman, you could try Swamp Thing which Snyder also writes. Swamp Thing and Animal Man are going to crossover sometime this year so you might want to get Animal Man as well.

On Marvel's side I really like Mark Waid's Daredevil series. It's light-hearted and looks great.

Where is a good place to order graphic novels at a good price? I'm after collecting The Sandman, Tank Girl and 100%. 100% seems a little pricy on Amazon and the comic store I go to, and not sure how much there is of the other two series.

Picked up a month's comics today (£129 - ouch).

Read Batman 5 - loved it. Lots.

Thought I would reacquaint myself with The Preacher. Went into local comic shop to buy it and came out with Vol 1. But somehow I also managed to purchase Hitman Vol 1 and The Boys vol 1.

I'm supposed to be economising.
