Anyone who hasn't read any of the Uncanny X-Force stuff for what ever reason - Do it, you really all do deserve it, it's the stuff Marvel should be pushing a lot more

IGN gave it 10  although it was definitely worth it. It's been a fantastic run and year overall from Remender, almost matching Snyder's work this year.

Stuff about that issue:

I love how he just took out two big characters in Marvel's push; Deadpool and Wolverine - both didn't have a role in this bar, they're strawberry floated, at the end. The love triangle between Betsy/Fanto/Warren was expertly played out and the reactions between them all worked brilliantly - Warren's death pages where beautiful and the art was just moving. It really showed just how much Betsy loved Warren, real true love that we really don't get to see in comics (at least defiantly not in Marvel's universes) - It was amazing how much I actually suddenly cared for Sunfire and how much I'm enjoying Deathlok's character for once (I hope they keep this whole new found love aspect for him) - I'm still very pleased to see a writer just sideline big characters and allow the others to really shine, and that worked so well, as every character got something worthy of them and really made the story look vaster then a big main character like Wovlerine = I hope Marvel realise this idea actually works

I don't think anyone comes close to Snyder and Remender this year for me, both have really pulled me back into comics and really care for stories being told, instead of just reading a comic for the sake of it.

Be very interesting to see where Uncanny X-Force go now, seeing as the last 18 issues has been one constant storyline; it's going to be a huge ask to pull something as good as that out the bag

sawyerpip wrote:Bit of a broad request, but I'm looking for some books worth getting if anyone would kindly like to recommend some. Books I own/have read are:

Long Halloween
Batman: Year One
The Dark Knight Returns
The Dark Tower: Volumes 1-3
Farscape: Volume 1
Ultimate Spider-Man TPBs: Volumes 1-21
The Walking Dead up to issue 70ish
Amazing Spider-Man up to issue 100ish
Spider-Man: Blue
Watchmen

Any and all recommendations are welcome! I seem to remember hearing about Omnibuses for Daredevil and Captain America that are particularly good?

If you liked Watchmen then definitely get V for Vendetta.

I just got the first volume this week actually. Haven't had a chance to read much of it yet but the art is gorgeous.

Installed Comic Zeal :shifty: on my iPad last night finally. Read all of Avengers: The Initiative volume 1. Not bad, but could have been better.

Yeah. Jeph Loeb actually used to be a good writer a decade or so ago.

Speaking of Loeb, I discovered I was an optimist this week when I bought the first issue of Avengers X-Sanction.

I made a huge mistake.

It was strawberry floating atrocious wasn't it? It's why i have no optimism for Avengers vs X-Men when Loeb is handling the prologue series for it. How this guy and Romita Jr continue to get big work at marvel I'll never know.

Compared to his output of the last few years it wasn't even bad just relentlessly mediocre. It was exactly what I was expecting though and I should have known better. As it's a mini-series I'll probably still buy the rest of it because I have severe OCD.

Batgirl however has been dropped as of #4. The Stephanie Brown series was far more entertaining than this. :(

It was just so silly. Capt was made purposely stupid just to make Cable look awesome. And I guarantee that's how every issue will go. But Cable won't kill them because they've got to be the main event (and cus they're massive characters)

I just kept asking myself why Cable has the exact same head design as the Hulk

Finally got around to buying the USM: Death of Spider-Man TPB. I haven't actually bought or read the TPBs in between Ultimatum and this, but they didn't seem essential to understand what was going on. It was quite emotional, still can't quite believe they went ahead with killing him :(

How is the new Spider-Man, Miles whatever his name? Not sure I want to carry on reading now Peter is dead to be honest. Although no doubt he'll be brought back somehow in the future.

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if he's not brought back, barring another Ultimate universe reboot. They seem to have made quite an effort this time to make the universe meaningfully different from the main one, and killing Peter Parker is quite a statement.

As much as I hate meaningful moments being ruined by retcons and plain ignorance, I just don't want Peter to be dead :(

The new series is quite good but I still don't know who Miles is as a character whereas we already knew Ultimate Peter when the original series started.

X-Force is the X-Men's black-ops kill team. The Uncanny X-Force run by Rick Remender is highly praised. The new Scarlet Spider is Peter Parker's clone Kaine.
