I made something of a faux pas at work today. We were sat talking about the new Spider-Man movie when this girl mentioned that it didn't feature Mary Jane but a different girl to which I responded "must be Gwen Stacy". She said "Yeah that was her name" to which I foolishly answered "That was Peter Parker's first girlfriend, The Green Goblin killed her". Thus the movie was potentially ruined for her.

I really must remember that not everyone who likes Comic Book movies necessarily reads Comic Books.

Criminal, Scalped, Garth Ennis' run on Punisher - if you've liked what you've read so far you'll like these...lots.

Has anyone read Infestation from IDW. It's a zombie event set across Transformers, Gi Joe, Star Wars and Ghost Busters. The universe's characters don't cross over (huge shame) but the story is really well done and has some awesome art work. Both copies for under £20 at Amazon.co.uk.

Wish my image sig would work

There have been 91 issues released so far and there's a new collected edition out December 20th which has issues #85-90. This compendium here contains issues 1-48 which will take you far beyond where the TV show is. If the show sticks to the book, I would estimate that compendium covers the first three seasons and a bit beyond.

While the TV show is changing some minor details, in general the plot is mostly the same so you would be spoiling some stuff yeah. Having said that, some stuff in the comics is never going to be shown on TV and the comics are better than the TV show. I started reading the comics while the first season of Walking Dead was still airing and I have no regrets.

Yeah issue 48.

The hardcovers collect 12 issues each, the hardcover oversized omnibus collect 24 issues each.

I think I am going to have to re-read the first load of issues because from what I recall the comic is quite different to the tv series with regards to certain characters. As MM mentioned though some of the stuff that happens in the comic has no chance of being on tv though.

Next Marvel event spoilers:

Marvel Announces Avengers vs. X-Men
Well, Marvel said the reveal for the "It's Coming" teaser would be coming on Wednesday, but it looks like we don't have to wait that long after all.

Marvel announced through USA Today that the teaser refers to their 2012 event series, titled simply, Avengers vs. X-Men. The series will involve the writers that Marvel has deemed their "architects" -- Matt Fraction, Jason Aaron, Ed Brubaker, Brian Michael Bendis and Jonathan Hickman. So what does that teaser have to do with pitting the X-Men against the Avengers?

With the Phoenix rocketing toward Earth looking for a new host -- which USA Today teases might be Hope Summers -- the lines are drawn as the X-Men want to prepare Hope for her new role as Phoenix, while the Avengers want to spare her from that fate. Fraction said of Hope, "Some people treat her as though she's a messiah, some people treat her as though she's a monster, and really she's just like any 17-year-old kid."

"It's one of those legendary ideas: What if the Avengers fought the X-Men? It doesn't get much easier to describe than that," Brubaker added.

The series will be 12-issues and bi-weekly, launching in March with a special #0 prologue issue. The writers will be alternating issues, while the series will be drawn in four-issue arcs by John Romita Jr., Olivier Coipel and Adam Kubert.

"It's interesting to see each guy bringing his best to the table," Aaron told USA Today. "You don't want to be the weak link who lets the team down. Each issue, every guy's trying to throw down the gauntlet and one-up the guy who came before him."

As for pitting two teams of Marvel's most beloved heroes against one another, Marvel's Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso said, "You've got two populations whose motivations are simple and understandable and defensible. That's part of the beauty of this. You're seeing a story that evolves out of 'What would you do?'"

So I guess the question is, what side are you on?

Wolverine on the Avengers side :fp:

Civil War Mark 2.0. Was interested until I saw Romita Jr's name.

One question: If Hope isn't currently the Phoenix, how has been doing things like making Phoenix flames and basically teasing that the Phoenix Force is already part of her? Was this the same for Jean? I can't remember my xmen history.

You would think that an X-Men event would involve the actual writer of Uncanny X-Men, Kieron Gillen, but I don't see his name anywhere there.

The Phoenix Force is pretty fragmented, I think Hope just has a fraction of it at the moment. Jean was possessed by all of it.
