Marvel To Publish Something Very Superior In November. And I Think I Know What It Is.

Image
It might suggest a new Superior Spider-Man from Marvel in November. But that, I believe, would be too obvious. Time to join some dots.

We have seen a black Captain America being lined up, Sam Wilson, The Falcon, to take the role when Steve Rogers steps down.

We have seen a very female Thor announced on The View. So… who is next?

Completing the Avengers triumverate would be Iron Man. Whose book has gone on hiatus, as has Thor’s, for the Original Sin crossover. Thor returns in October. Will Iron Man return in November?

And will it be a… Superior Iron Man in some way, shape or form? I think so, yes. Whether it’s Tony Stark or Arno Stark in the suit of course, that will have to wait.

If it isn't a new Octavius book, that's just cruel.

UPDATE: This is presumably what the Superior Iron Man will look like. Note his colours match the teaser image….

Blates Arno.

Also what's happened to Hulk? Something big has apparently happened in the original sin hulk vs iron man issue today. I'm so behind on everything :(

Spoilers I read say- Banner with Arno's help reprograms the extremis in Banner's system so Banner is in control when in hulk form.

Definitely. Hate it when they do this for 'diversity' etc when it is really to get on mainstream news.

Imagine the uproar of sexism if Storm or someone became a fella.

While I don't doubt the news coverage was intended, I hardly think that was the only reason and I think Marvel should be applauded for this. There's a big imbalance between male and female superheros, and not just in Marvel's lineup, and replacing Thor, a core Avenger with a woman is a fantastic move. They did it to improve diversity and get themselves into the news, and that's fine.

Replacing a female character with a man would be a very different deal. I think the "uproar" would extend as far as people rolling their eyes at another white male superhero, and it would basically be a bit weird.

Superior Iron Man And The Avengers NOW! Initiative From Marvel

Image

Well then… judging by how much the Bleeding Cool team has been glued to their computer screens ’round the clock over the past few days, you’d think it was con week already. Moments after confirming the new Captain America news on Colbert, Entertainment Weekly has released and/or confirmed a bunch of Marvel info, including something we told you about earlier today, Superior Iron Man:

In November, Superior Iron Man #1 sends Tony Stark to San Francisco with a new outfit and a new perspective on life. “The Genius Bar costume is there for a reason,” Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso tells EW. “The newly-transformed Superior Iron Man has very ambitious plans for the city that some of its residents embrace, but not all.” Comic book fans will note the very pointed addition of the word “Superior” to the title. The last time that happened, it was Superior Spider-Man, and Doctor Octopus took over Peter Parker’s brain. Doc Ock won’t be invading Tony’s frontal lobe, but Alonso does note, “Like the Superior Spider-Man, Superior Iron Man is a character that’s hard to root for.” The series is written by Tom Taylor and drawn by In a series written by Tom Taylor and drawn by Yildiray Cinar.

And also, a grander scheme in the form of Avengers NOW!:

Avengers NOW! goes way beyond the Big Three. All the characters in the exclusive image above will play a more prominent role in the Marvel Universe going into 2015. That makes sense for Dr. Strange, Scarlet Witch, and Ant-Man, who will be in the public eye as their film debuts move closer to release. But Marvel will also be focusing more on Inhuman characters like Medusa and Inferno, alongside the new Marvel arrival Angela, who originated as an Image character but who is being worked into Thor’s mythology.

Whether Scarlet Witch or Angela join their ranks will be revealed in the coming months, as Marvel moves closer to the launch of Avengers NOW!

The initiative will also feature a renewed focus on Deathlok and the Winter Soldier, and more than ten titles already in the planning stages. Expect to hear more about Avengers NOW! throughout Comic-Con. Ultron who?

You can be certain we’ll hear lots more on all of this in the coming days…

Can't help but feel that with Tom Taylor writing Iron Man and the Supeior title for it, that somehow Tony is turning bad? And his suit in that is totally different to the one on that Avengers cover.

So solo titles for Dr.Strange, Ant-Man, Angela & Scarlet Witch to be announced?

Gillen on Dr.Strange, Waid on Ant-Man, Gillen and that female snyder protegee on Angela, Gillen and someone else on Scarlet Witch. Gillen to be put in charge of the "magic" part of the MU. Those are my guesses.

I love how they are completely ignoring the fact they spoiled the new Cap weeks ago when those Avengers solicitations came out. I wonder if Iron Man's helmet looking similar to the Vision is just coincidence?

I take it the X-Men side of things are getting their own NOW! announcement?

TAYLOR SPILLS DETAILS ON MARVEL'S NEW "SUPERIOR IRON MAN" TITLE

Today, via Mashable, we learn more about Tony Stark's new 'superiority' complex and get another look at his new armor. The series, which spins out of the events in the upcoming "Avengers & X-Men: AXIS" event, is written by Tom Taylor and illustrated by Yildray Cinar. The new series moves Stark's base of operations to San Francisco and updates his Extremis technology -- which the inventor has released to the world at large, a move which results in a confrontation with Daredevil, another recent San Francisco transplant.

So in direct contradiction to that Civil War story in the iron man shortly after extremis where mandarin wanted to release extremis to the world, but it was lethal to like 98% of the population :fp: :fp:

Bought the trades of the whole Busiek/Perez run of Avengers from the late 90's/early 00's last night. Is this considered a good run?

Urg Falcon as Cap is maybe worse than the Thor change. He is a D list character to me, coming from someone who bought Cap for years.

Most comics don't justify the £3 price most have now, they are too expensive to keep rebooting things without a clue as to what you are getting.

Recently cut down to ASM, Lazarus and Original Sin only. Will be keeping it that way for a while I think

Never read it myself but I think it was critically well received.

Tom Brevoort Makes $100 Bets That The New Captain America And Thor Won’t Revert To The Originals In Time For The Release Of Avengers: Age Of Ultron

I suppose it was just pure coincidence then that superior spidey finished the month it did, Peter returned and the title became Amazing Spider-Man at the same time ASM 2 was out huh? And that wasn't even a marvel studios movie.

Really can't stand Brevoort. Only marvel person I can't stand more is Slott.

I seem to have bid on Animal Man twice because I'm a moron. Also Captain America.

I don't know how to bid properly.

I've also bid for American Vampire as a load of my AV issues appear to have gone missing when I moved.

Speaking of trades, Uncanny Volume 3 was good. Anka should really be on the book full-time.
