I absolutely love the Olympics and most major sporting events but I really struggle to care about the Commonwealth games

My police friend is getting paid an absurd amount of money to go down and basically stand about outside arenas. Little bit jealous.

Also, went to Glasgow last month and it's an amazing city.

We accidentally stayed in a brothel, but still, great place.

There are brothels in most big cities. Don't ask me how I know this, I just do.

I'm loving it but I do live in Glasgow, place is buzzing its great.

Went to Triathlon today, got tickets for Boxing 1/4 finals and Wrestling medal final next week.

Some performance by Ross Murdoch in the 200m swimming, Michael Jamieson is so bitter at being 2nd

I've heard there's actually more brothels in Edinburgh.

We were first alerted when the guy at the taxi rank laughed and said "ah that's a brothel" when we said the name of our "hotel". We then got in the taxi and the driver (who hadn't heard the first conversation) reacted in exactly the same way.

A lot of people noted it in their Tripadvisor reviews. I wasn't responsible for booking it so hadn't looked into it before going....

I can picture a Glasgow taxi driver reacting that way so clearly.

Just found it on Tripadvisor. Couldn't remember the name so started at the bottom of the 90 ranked hotels in Glasgow and found it at 87

None in Newcastle. Doesn't need em. :datass:

gooseberry fool gets real in the Games on Sunday with the athletics, leading up to the men's 100m final on Monday night. Then I'm probably out. I just don't quite care. :(

(Might dip back in for the 4x400 relays - the finest track event there is.)

Amongst the most pointless 'world games' there has ever been, I still don't actually see the point in competing against nations that the UK owned for a bit. :shifty:

Nah, they're pointless. I heard somewhere that it was basically started as a 'who's got the fastest slaves?' competition.

Though that might be bollocks, it seems to ring true.
