I know it's such a small event they should let it die, they must be disappointed with those 1.2m tickets that have been sold...

I bet Bolt puts his medal in a cupboard so he doesnt have to explain what the hell it is.

If you'd like to explain the actual point in it rather than spout ticket sales I'm all ears (well eyes really)

America isn't the world (your video previously). Obviously if they are not in it they don't give a strawberry float, just like yourself.

In other Commonwealth countries it is a much bigger deal than here so...

Was down at the BBC quay today, managed to sit in on an interview with Ford Kiernan & Greg Hemphill, was hilarious. Sat out in the sun watching the big screen for an hour or two, which was awesome. There's a really good atmosphere in Glasgow just now, hopefully continues.

While it looks really well organised this year and would be great to experience in person, I just can't get excited about this games at all. Perhaps it's because we've been a bit awash with sport over the last few months.

Its a pretty good set up down the Quay eh? Went to free gig with DJ Target, Lethal Bizzle, Ella Erye and Stylo G. Pretty good for free.

Apparently down Glasgow Green is always buzzing with the big screens, food places etc too. Maybe give that a bash tomorrow.

Doesn't Photek like GAA? And he's talking about pointless sport?

The Commonwealths are a mixed bag depending on the sport. My fiancee remembers Jonathan Edwards doing his nut commentating on the Triple Jump, because the quality just wasn't world standard. That's because the Americans and continental Europeans aren't there, and the Jamaicans don't always send the big boys. The swimming is also missing Phelps and the Chinese girl who burst onto the scene in London, for instance.

On the other hand, pretty much all the big rugby nations are there apart from Ireland and France, so the standard of the Rugby Sevens is pretty high. The cycling has Britain and Australia, who are the two main powerhouses. The Judo, despite missing Japan and some of the Asian nations like Azerbaijan who are quite good, has been really good fun. It's also got the same festival of sport feel as the Olympics, where you can flick between sports you don't normally watch and enjoy new experiences. The athletics hasn't even started yet and I'm enjoying loads of different sports.

It's a big deal for some countries and some sports, not so much for others. Pointless sporting events? Try the European Super Cup...

I think the BBC might have over estimated the nations interest in the Commonwealth games

"Scottie dogs at Commonwealth Games ceremony were 'disrespectful' to Muslims" :fp:

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/world/scottie-dogs-at-commonwealth-games-ceremony-were-disrespectful-to-muslims-9635795.html

Mohamad Sabu, the deputy president of the opposition Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party said: "Malaysia and all Islamic countries deserve and apology from the organiser.

"This is just so disrespectful to Malaysia and Muslims – especially as it happened during Ramadan. Muslims are not allowed to touch dogs, so the organiser should have been more aware and sensitive on this issue.

"It is hoped this incident can teach other Western countries to be more respectful in the future."

Really :fp:

Anyone remotely interested in Athletics should watch Jo Pavey's 5000m race that's just been. Genuinely amazing effort from her at 40

Ive seen hardly any of these games. I was watching the end of English woman hurdle jumper getting silver which got me thinking. What is the National anthem used by the English, Scottish and Welsh teams of are they all using God Save the Queen?
