CGI monsters are mostly pretty weak but I did think the CGI in District 9 was pretty fantastic.

I thought Clovie looked pretty good for CGI, but the shakycam probably accounted for it.

District 9 has some of the best CGI monsters I've ever seen.

I liked the District 9 effects too :simper:

Jurassic Park still pisses over a lot of modern CGI. I'm still one for models though. If done correctly they can look absolutely spectacular. CGI is often used as a cheap short cut which inevitably removes any "menace" the monster should have.

Jurassic Park used a mixture of models and CGI though.

Its better that way, use CGI to enhance the modelling dont just do all CGI

District 9 still blows my mind today with how well they got the lighting and compositing of the aliens into each scene. Considering the majority of the film is broad daylight, normally showing up how bad CG can look, (hello Spider-Man) the very talented production department have to be commended

Still Models>CG, you only have to look at Alien to see that. Over 20+ years and still puts many CG films to shame

The Alien 3 dog-alien just proves that they shouldn't have gone anywhere near CGI in those films.

Hulk in Avengers was pretty darn good as well.

CG over a man in a suite to enhance his look.

District 9 was indeed fantastic, and I thought that Super 8's alien thing wasn't all that bad either.

Plus Super 8's Monster wasn't supposed to be that scary considering the ending, strange choice MHTL picked

Well yes fine, it still looked rubbish in my opinion. Just working my way through series two of Game Of Thrones and the birth of the smoke monster has almost made me want to stop watching it. Utter shite.
