jawafour wrote:[touch wood] Barring dead-on-arrival consoles, the only machines i've owned that have stopped working are my SNES and an Xbox 360 (one of the newer models, ironically). Neither was damaged, but the SNES just stopped powering on and the 360's hard drive died.

If the power light wasn't turning on, it was probably a dead internal fuse. Soldered in, but it's a pretty easy replace.

I always knew the Dreamcast was the best thing ever and this just proves it.

You mean aside from the dodgy internal power supply and frequent laser death issue?

Those were minor issues compared to all that awesome.
The VMU was like the cherry on the lemon drizzle cake filled with pure gold.

Never had a problem with any of my consoles apart from two RROD 360s.

I had a 360 rrod but I must admit the process of sending it back and getting a replacement machine was super smooth so they did try.

This is a guy who truly loves his consoles.

My SNES still works perfectly despite Pete The Hippy dropping a chicken bhuna on it and then standing on it in his Doctor Martin boots. Circa 1992.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

TurnipK, I think that I've done this in Watch Dogs, but that's about my limit ;-).

Thanks for the tips. I'm gonna have to find a chap with your skills to sort this out, one day!

I'm a cack handed bodger at best, but I've seen some genuinely impressive repairs on youtube.

The fuse I just know about because I blew it on my Super Famicom a while back and just got around to replacing it. It should be the first port of call when a SNES fails to power up.

Cannot believe the 360 survived the fall. Nice to see the Dreamcast come out on top.
