PostCopying data from one Excel workbook to another
by <]:^D » Mon Jun 29, 2015 10:49 am

Hello,

I have two workbooks with data in them. Whenever I try and copy a column (e.g. Age) from one to the other it messes up the ordering. For example, Mr A. Smith is 23 in one table on workbook A, when I copy him across he's now 54 on workbook B. I think it has something to do with the Cell Numbers not matching up but I'm not sure.

Has anyone got any ideas? :(

Open up both workbooks,
right click on the worksheet tab at the bottom of the Worksheet you want to copy data from
click on move or copy
Click make a copy and then just choose the other work book as destination

You need to look at the cells you are copying to see if there is any logic associated with them. If so, you can't just copy selected bits and think all will be good.

Yes?

Death's Head do you mean formulas etc? They're all just basic values.

copy the column, and then when you paste choose paste special and select values only.
