This is a good idea. The Lidl kitchen foil is good value and feels thicker than most other supermarket’s efforts. My brother swears by their own brand arsehole batteries too.

What?! What are people using in the shower if not a bar of soap?- People past the age of 16 still use shower gel?

Why would you stop using shower gel at 16? :?

Because it's for children who want to seem cool, like Lynx.

Apparently this is a controversial opinion. I mean I use it when I go the gym and stuff but that's because I can't carry a wet bar of soap in my gym bag. But at home?

Bloody teenagers with their Old Spice shower gel. It’s well known in Yorkshire that Real Men, Hard Men, GEEZERS, only use Coal Tar Soap.

I'm with Ecno on this if I'm honest.

The main purpose of a shower is to clean yourself, a bar of soap (e.g. Dove) is best for this purpose. Then any scent/perfume should be applied via deodrant/Aftershave.

I had no idea* there were so many Lynx Java Cretins in here.

I had every idea, I mean... look at you lot.

Lynx do sell a bar soap but it’s not that widely available.

While sales of bar soap did actually rise in 2019 for the first time in years (reduction in plastic was the reason often cited by consumers), sales are minuscule compared to shower gels, bubble bath and hand wash. While the average supermarket will often have anywhere between 100-150 lines of shower gel, and a further 70-100 lines of bath products, there will only be between 10-20 lines of bar soap (Dove, Imperial Leather, Simple, Cussons and Wrights being the main 5).

Aren't most people on tariffs that don't offer cheaper night time usage and higher daytime usage? That's the super old fashioned economy 7 tariff / enormous storage heater set up?

I say bring back that NI burning ash for cash policy. :slol:

I only use my best Lynx shower gel when I'm on a promise with the wife once a year.

My home has Economy 7 storage heaters; all the flats in my estate do. They're okay but you kinda have to predict the weather in advance i.e. adjust the heating according to how hot or cold it's gonna be tomorrow.

Makes no difference unless you are specifically metered on a dual rate or have Economy 7 rigged up like Frankenstein's monster.

Problem with E7 (well, more the users) is that you can't just set them and leave them. Alway wind the input down before bed otherwise you'll wake to a toastie room that's cold by 2pm.
In a lot of places we are hoying them out and putting hi efficiency electric heaters in (Farho, Haverland, etc).

It's a shambles isn't it.

I am not educated in it, but am I right in saying one of the big contributors is Brexit?

I'm still in Cyprus but I'll be home by the end of the year, and I'll go from living a fairly well off life to likely being much much more careful.

I use soap and shampoo bars in the shower and reducing plastic was my main reason. I tried conditioner bars but couldn't get on with them to be honest so I use a bottled one.

Are you not feeling it in Cyprus too? Inflation is through the roof almost across the board. People are having an awful time of it in Poland, though the govt has eaten some of the gas raise for heating.
