I think I have an achievement bug. I completed boss mode and the 4a - 5a achievement didn't unlock.

I'll give it another go and see if it works.

I'm on Xbox.

They unlock after a while, I had the same issue with Arcade 4A-5A as have some others on TA. The first guy to finish it had to wait for one of the All Boss Levels achievement to unlock, which he's obviously done as he's finished the whole game.

I would have had it done yesterday but I was saving the achievements for the competition we're in (see the GTASC thread if you're really interested). Gutted that I missed out on first place on TA, but never mind. Do you have stats of how many other people have done it?

It’s a lovely little cassette isn’t it! I hope you enjoy the other games on there, the videos from Andrew, and the “Hyper Sentinel : Loading” story of how it all happened.

None of this would have been possible without the amazing retro community who backed and helped us all the way through. So thanks again!

I couldn’t have been happier with the response we have received. This from a certain Kieren Hawken brought a tear to my eye: “One of the best pure arcade experiences I have had on a console, and probably the best game of its type since Tempest 2000”

Jealous of that casette jawa!

In a day's time I believe I should be able to see how many hours I've put into the game on Switch, that should be interesting!

I also noticed the first of the Switch news channel entries with the hints and tips :)

Finally bought the game myself! Grabbed it on Switch :) Will report back with impressions.

That unboxing Jawa :wub: One day we'll get lil' Jawa and Matt's lil' Wario in the same shot playing Switch

Finally; one of my favourite youtubers did a really glowing review of Hyper Sentinel, also went in depth on the history of Uridium. Had no idea there was a 16-bit era sequel!

I'm enjoying what I played, but and this is a kinda picky but, with the leaderboards, is there a way to add a field where you can just view friends scores? I like looking at how bad/good I've done, but it'd be much more cool if I can point at Jazzem and laugh at his scores.

Got up to 4-B...well this is marvelous :wub:

Though I must admit, at first I was frustrated at the number of hits I was taking, feeling it mitigated the satisfaction of progress somewhat. But then as I started to take advantage of the regenerating health, I really began to adore the game's flow! I love how viable it is to plunge straight into battle and play riskily, all the while feeling the tension of whether you can recover health in time. Terrific risk+reward balance for score chasing too, there's been many times where I would've been safer hiding off to the side...but I wanted to keep that multiplier up so just tried to dodge + give hits :twisted: this behaviour has caused me several deaths right as a boss was about to go down...

It's a refreshingly modern take on this kind of game, must be a stark contrast to Uridium's one hit deaths. As well as the obvious comparison of Halo and other modern FPSes, it reminds me of Sonic's ring system and how that buffers you enough to play fast and loose while still providing a challenge. The presentation is top notch too and helps all the little dodges and shots feel so satisfying, also my god does this look stunning on the Switch's screen!

Really, my only qualms are lack of a friend filter on leaderboards (I alas can't find the option for it on Switch, having pressed every button) and it would be pretty neat to be able tosave replays, both in game and as video capture on Switch. I appreciate these are likely not as easy to implement as it may seem on the non-dev side though, and those niggles aside the core game being so strong makes this a remarkable achievement :)

I’ll check with Huey as they did the leaderboard implementations. I’m fairly sure it’s available on Xbox, it could well be to due to restrictions within the platforms themselves. Xbox online APIs are much more mature as you’d expect.

Hey Pedz, yeah I got a quick answer. Unfortunately friend leaderboards are not supported on Switch due to restrictions in the APIs that we are given. Hopefully that is something Nintendo allow us to access in the future.

Hi Jazzem!
I’m really happy you’re now picking up the flow of the game. You’re absolutely right about that risk reward system - it might seem an obvious choice when playing now, but it actually took a while to get it right. Rob (Hewson) and I actually had a Eureka moment for it while driving back from a game show in Birmingham :D

I wanted to design a game that was challenging but completable by everyone. We’re not in a coin-op here - people put down their money upfront, so in my opinion they deserve to be able to see the whole game. I hope I got that balance right for people.

If we can at all get video recording and friends in we will do something in an update.

Nice one Starquake, that's great on the Birmingham eureka moment ha. Funny how such epiphanies can hit us away from the work desk!

And aye that's a commendable design goal, I absolutely think you got the balance right :)
