PostCriterion's Black for PS2 and Xbox - awesome FPS!!

I am currently replaying Criterion's Black on my Xbox.

It looks and plays soo god. I am playing it on my Xbox thru component cables, 480p on my 37-inch LCD, and it looks truly fantastic. For more info, see the recent Eurogamer retrospective article at http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/retrospective-black-article.

It's quite hard though. And the levels are very long, with no saves in between. And it's a real shame that it doesen't have coop multiplayer, that would have been great.

But it's the most good-looking FPS I've played on last gen. I've also played it on PS2, and it looks really good there too. Criterion are really coding wizards, having been able to extract so good graphics from last gen.

So if you are into FPS games and have either an Xbox or a PS2, don't pass this one up..

Was this the one that had the set piece in a church graveyard?

You had to move from one end to the other while dodging snipers who were in the bell tower. Hiding behind the gravestones caused them to shatter when they were shot at, which I thought was a nice touch.

I think I've got the right game? :?

It's a brilliant game. Hardly "retro" though.

It is last gen. By definition it is retro.

Went back to this again, after god knows how many years. Still an amazing achievement, easily the best looking shooter of last gen. However, this is compounded by the fact, the game can be monumentally strawberry floating dull. Levels take too strawberry floating long, endlessly respawning enemies are a pain, and there aren't enough checkpoints!

That engine though

Why haven't Criterion made an FPS for this generation? :(

Probably because of Burnout's success. I think that Criterion should take a break from Burnout/derivatives but I doubt that they'll get the chance now they're on Need for Speed duty.
