If you feel the same as I did after seeing it, you'll be watching it a few more times soon after. Herzog's stuffed it so full of great things, and it seems Cage could well be a nice way to fill the void Herzog has had since Klaus Kinski died.

That track I posted is one of the finest compositions I've heard in a film. The way it starts is all edgy and tense with its dipping minor chords, and it transforms into the last minute, which is completely different, adding huge emotional weight to a certain scene where the Lieutenant remembers a certain spoon.

By the way, don't get the wrong impression of 'crazy' about the film - many actors have gone to greater extremes than Cage here, let alone Keitel. It's just that the film is - not considering any actors, directors, or overtly symbolic scenes - just really, really good. I went in to it thinking Cage was going to be MENTAL but you can see that he's controlling it, the best acting of his career (besides Leaving Las Vegas) as he's subtley mental, perfectly in fitting with the tone of the film - and due to his skill, you're left unsure about what to think of him by the end.

Right, enough of that.

Say what you like about the film, but the title music is among the best Badalamenti (Twin Peaks) has made.

They're both amazing though, and so is Recovery :wub:

The new LP album seems to be more heavily populated with interval minisongs, but even so there's a few gems in there.
