Played about an hour of Dragon Age so far. It's so slow. All this listening to people talk is gonna put me to sleep.

Quest for Dungeons

Nice little rogue-like rpg with 8-bit graphics, very challenging too.

Hatsune Miku Project Diva f 2nd

The tracks don't seem as good/catchy as the first game, but they'll probably grow on me. Looks gorgeous, and improvements such as using the thumb sticks for star notes are welcome additions. Plenty of content and will probably buy the song season pass too.

Also, normal mode seems a lot harder than the first game.

Super Mario 64

I stopped playing with 61 stars. I'll keep playing when I have time but I might leave the rest for Christmas. I tried to get the 100 coin star in Shifting Sand Land on my way to the sixth star but I kept sinking in the quick sand so I moved on to Big Boo's Haunt.

Here I managed to get the first four stars and the 100 coin star. I got stuck trying to get to Big Boo's Balcony so, the next time I play, I'll go to see Bowser and try the next set of worlds.

I'm going to try to get all 120 stars, and get as close as I can without using a guide. I'm pretty sure that I never picked up a star in either Shifting Sand Land or Big Boo's Haunt when I was younger which is why they felt so unfamiliar. As I progress, I'm sure that more stars will seem unfamiliar because I only just picked up enough stars to beat Bowser as a child. Even then, I used a friend's save so he had already picked up some stars that I could never get which is how I managed to face Bowser

Whilst I think SM64 is an amazing and revolutionary game (though its impact was lessened for me by playing B-K first), I did feel at the time that its game worlds got worse as the game went on.

Whilst the like of Tick Tock Clock and Rainbow Ride are arguably more like a 2D Mario course, they have a bit more linearity about them and can be quite frustrating to traverse, whereas I preferred the more open, less urgent nature of the opening stages.

GTA: San Andreas

The game improved immensely once the second and third islands became available. All the Grove Street shite feels like an age ago now. The missions still aren't great though; there's essentially been a couple of good ones in the game so far and the rest ranged from mediocre to tedious beyond belief. Mission checkpoint system is still useless.

Wind Waker - Finished the first of the main temples after the midway point and have decided to spend time completing the sidequests and getting the treasure charts - I didn't get them all on the Gamecube originally, so will do this time! Brilliant game!

GTA5 - Spending a bit of time now and again on FPS mode, but has been put aside for the games below:

Far Cry 4 - Better than FC3 in every way. A lot more polished and menus etc are a lot easier to understand. Looks absolutely stunning on PS4 and runs brilliantly. At the moment, just upgrading a lot of my equipment by hunting animals - made the mistake of leaving that too late in FC3 and gave up.

The last of us remastered - Wow! about 5 hours in an am loving every moment. I do hope this game carrys on for at least 12 hours as it really is one of the best single player adventures I have ever played. Almost like a third person Half Life game at times, in more ways than one!

PES 2015 - haven't given this as much time as I should have due to the games above, but the best footie game for a long time. Online works pretty much lag free at the moment and I need to give fellow grcaders a few games this week if possible!

I've recently restarted a rerun through the Saints Row series - partly for my gf as she likes watching me play stuff, partly for myself as it's one of my favourite series and Gat out of Hell is due out soon and all new games seem to be rubbish. I tried playing the first game but it was janky as hell, so skimmed the plot summary which I kind of knew from the first time round anyway. Then I tried to fix the notoriously awful PC port of SR2, which I managed to get working alright, up until I had to do the same mission 3 times in a row as it kept crashing. Running out of patience I switched to the PS3 version, which doesn't crash but looks and runs like gooseberry fool. So strawberry floating good, despite the technical limitations. Just up to the end of the first 'act' for a better word, I've saved Shaundi from Veteran Child and "saved" Carlos (RIP in peace  ).

Time for a controversial opinion. I think GTA is more technically accomplished, but for me Saints Row is the better game/series.

If I recall the game was about 20+ hours for me! that was relaxed pace but not hunting every collectible. The game is quartered nicely with seasons. Summer, autumn, winter and then spring.

I'm in complete agreement there. The mission where you have to take out all the machines in the plastic factory was a total bitch. Having to drive all that way then it tells you to sneak in. So even when you sneak in you get spotted once you're in there anyway and every bugger in there is shooting you, then more of the bastards turn up once you've twatted all the machines - I eventually used a car instead of shooting the things - then you get killed and have to do the whole lot again including the long drive to the bloody factory. it took me at least five attempts to do that mission, I was up 'til 3.00 playing it and I had to be in work at 8.00 this morning.

The last quarry mission was also a pain, a few times I completed all the gooseberry fool in good time, only to have the bike or body fall out of the back of the dumper truck, even on the occasion when I backed the thing up a slope to stop them falling out!

Went back to Tomb Raider over the weekend. What a game. Enjoying it so much more than Uncharted.

Absolutely. The only missions where the checkpoint system actually does its job, are the ones where it least needs it. :x
It's all the tedious driving to and from points in the missions that grates, yet the ones with barely any travelling, you start right where you need to be if/when you die. :fp:

Been playing as much as I can as quickly as I can recently to be able to write up halfway decent Game of the Year articles next month, only for my PS4 to start packing up. Timed sending it back for this week as I'm away for the weekend and Smash Bros is out, hopefully the turn around isn't too long.

Had been playing a ton of Far Cry 4 before that happened, and was loving it. A better, more refined Far Cry 3. Story this time is just a bit rubbish rather than offensively bad, which is an improvement. Only big fault I'd have is that the wildlife is far too aggressive.

The world desperately needs a dinosaur game exactly like this.

Looks like they are doing Yeti DLC so if wouldn't be too hard to imagine a dinosaur expansion. They could use a cave as a gateway to new map lost world style.

I agree far cry 4 is just a refined version of 3 but they have the open world FPS formula nailed. Loads to do, intersting map, fast travel system, emergent gameplay, solid stealth mechanic, multiple routes to improve skills and weapons, good variety of enemies and wildlife. Ok missions are all a bit samey but never dull.

Despite what people say I think story is weaker here. Pagan Min had a great introduction and could have been the new Vaas, interesting and menacing. Trouble is after first 5 minutes he disappears and hasn't featured in 15 hours aside from a few radio conversations. Seems wasted potential to me.
