I keep meaning to get into this Model 2 emulator lark, they seem to be getting closer and closer to having an arcade perfect Virtua Fighter 2 running on PC.

Following on from my Banjo Tooie topic, I've not had much time to play recently however I finally reached Cloud Cuckooland a few days ago. After a few minutes wondering around I decided to leave it for another day as I'd come straight from finishing Hailfire Peaks, which was just as amazing as I remembered.

Some Mega Drive love:

Castle of Illusion: The reason I got all irritatable when Warren Spector said Mickey hadn't been treated well in the video game world; still holds up a treat  One of those games I like to play through every so often.

Strider: This is such a damn cool game...but it's also rather cheap :P I guess that's the arcade origins showing. It's still a ton of fun, and I love it when you get the sword power-up that makes it basically swipe across the whole screen! My favourite cheap death so far has been when I ran straight into a swamp and then got swarmed by piranhas

Super Fantasy Zone: I need to check out more of this series if this is anything to go by, great game with some of the most badass bass you'll hear on the system! Loving the really colourful visuals too. It's going to be a tough one to beat though; no continues, not even one!

Think I might start saving a bit of money each week so I can get my SNES modded, so glad I did the same to my MD :)

Playing the sega flash saturn demos I got today.
Never thought that I would get to play keio flying squadron 2 because it goes for loads, thankfully there was a demo. Played virtual-on and thought it was pretty good, same with Baku Baku Animal and the saturn version of sonic 3d. One game I really liked was athelte kings.

Athlete Kings was strawberry floating awesome. I think Sega were a tad too generous with the demo for that game, as it prevented me from buying the full thing.

Sega in the hey day. 60 fps high-res visuals. Lovely.

Ive been playing through Ocarina of Time again (again) and will follow with Majoras Mask in anticipation of Skyward Sword.

I also downloaded Wave Race 64 on the VC. I only ever played Blue Storm and it hasn't aged at all.

Been revisiting some old PS1 games with my girlfriend...

Devil Dice
Fun, but really hard. I remember spending hours on the OPM demo of this.

Disney's Tarzan
Actually really good, surprisingly, for a movie licence. A classic platformer with loads of stuff to collect.

Kurushi Final
Way, way, way too hard, with no tutorials. Managed the first level, got stumped at the second one.

Landmaker
Didn't really understand how this worked at all.

Micro Machines V3
Good for a nostalgia trip, but punishingly difficult, to the point of making it a bit of a chore.

Overboard!
Used to adore this game, and I can still see why. A really unique platform/puzzler, with some brilliant tricks and traps.

Parappa the Rapper
Nowhere near as responsive as I remember it being; I swear the timing it expects you to have is off with the actual rhythm. I'll stick to the PSP game.

Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo
Definitely still one of the best puzzle games ever. So much fun.

Parts of it are indeed terrifying. When the floor starts to fall behind you, with the ominous sound effects... Image

WWF No Mercy is such a solid game in both respects. The story mode has so many handicap matches that it is unbelieveable.

Pretty brutal at times, yeah. Best wrestling game ever made for sure. The in depth championship modes were amazing.

I finally did the Floating Continent on FFVI! I was stuck on Atma Weapon for aaages until I realised the Vanish + Doom 'cheat' killed him instantly!
The part where Kefka kicks Gestahl off the continent then proceeds to reduce the world to ruins was  amazing.

Easily the best Final Fantasy game.

Legend Of The Mystical Ninja. I started it last night for the first time (well, I played it when I first bought it on the cheap years ago, but it didn't really click with me) and got to about stage 5 after much dying, getting used to the game mechanic, etc.

Today I decided to start again, now I know how to play the game better - and make my character richer and harder earlier on in the game this time (plus I enjoyed it so much last night I don't really mind doing it from the start again, especially knowing I'll do it much more efficiently this time).

I hope I wasn't too close to the end last night though - I like to think there's a fair bit of play left in it yet...

Nope, scratch that. Depressingly predictably, I got to a bit that was so ridiculously frustratingly hard I snapped the cartridge in two. It still works (the PCB only occupied the lower half of the cart) but why do games designers insist on SPOILING games by doing this? A game doesn't have to be anally difficult to be fun, does it?!
