Digitiser was great. I lived how if you sort of squinted your eyes a bit, the pictures sort of looked like what they were supposed to be.

Good times. Good times.

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

CVG saved, but there are still staff cuts

Computerandvideogames.com will not close yet but its editorial headcount will be reduced, MCV understands.

Staff have been informed that the writing team will be cut to three. There are five full-time staff members writing for CVG UK, with additional resource in the US and Australia. Parent company Future will then review the situation with CVG in December.

Last month the firm announced it was considering closing the website (along with several others) and put all its staff on consultation as part of sweeping changes at the business.

The firm had proposed to close CVG and put all its focus on Gamesradar, which is the bigger brand in the US.

However, the groundswell of support following the initial news has made Future reconsider its plans, and now MCV understands that it won't close CVG immediately.

A high number of media brands had tried to acquire CVG, which has also convinced Future it is a brand worth keeping alive.

The business will then review the website's performance in December.

There's no word on whether Edge-Online or the official magazine websites have also been given a reprieve. We've contacted Future for comment.

The fact that wasn't BLATANTLY OBVIOUS beforehand kinda beggars belief.

How you're supposed to run a website with 3 people though I don't know. I guess a lot of the previews & reviews will be coming from elsewhere.

Bet everyone at CVG (fired or not) wishes they'd been bought

Freelancers. Gamesradar operates in a similar way

GamesRadar just needs to die, I hate the way they run out of date articles and recaps as news.

Gamesradar is literally the worst - all they have are shitty list articles. Looking at their main page right now we have:

The 100 most anticipated games of 2014
The 10 funniest privacy invasions in watch dogs
6 bizarre pairs of games you never knew were made by the same developer
11 different groups that successfully invaded America (in a video game)

to name but a few. Zero effort or talent, pure filler for idiots and/or children.

Much as I like CVG for offering a UK voice it never breaks stories. I've often noticed news appear on GRcade an hour before it appears on CVG... If the best a writer can do is clumsily reword an article that is posted on every other website why should Future pay them a £16,000+ salary? But original content will be hit further with less staff. Hopefully Future retain the wheat.

Do CVG still do overviews of their magazine issues?

I used to like Cracked.com but I have to be honest I'm strawberry floating sick of list sites and articles. Like strawberry float it, they hardly say anything interesting, especially video game related ones.

Used to love Digitiser too for some strange reason it would update for the next day at 1.10am in the morning, I'd usually finish my gaming, read that and be away to bed - I did that for years, think it changed to Game Central after that.
