https://metro.co.uk/2018/06/13/cyberpun ... n-7627025/

"Cyberpunk 2077 may be the best video game ever made. That may seem like a meaningless statement considering it’s nowhere near release yet, but what we saw of the game at E3 is probably the single most impressive preview we’ve ever been witness to."

"CD Projekt has alluded to the fact before and trying to clarify exactly what formats the game will be released on involved a series of nervous questions between CD Projekt staff, unsure of what exactly they should be saying. Eventually we got them to admit it would be coming out on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, with a nervous little laugh making it clear that also appearing on next gen consoles was very much the plan (which also gives a hint as to when the game will be released)."

"The demo was running on the sort of PC that would make SkyNet blush but the fact that it was running at all, on any hardware that currently exists, was frankly astonishing."

"We’ve no idea what Cyberpunk 2077 will look like on current gen consoles but even if it’s a significant downgrade the underlying mechanics of gameplay and narrative choice are still hugely impressive. The demo alone was one of the most entertaining video game experiences of the year and we weren’t even playing it."

"From everything we’ve seen of Cyberpunk 2077 it seems like the hype is not only real but if anything understated."

The RPS preview is the best I've read so far as it largely foregoes the blow by blow accounts of others and instead concentrates on the minutae and the overall impression. It is also charmingly wary of hype:

And I did have a good time. However, that sense of caution must remain. Remember: I was just watching someone play a highly polished fragment of an unfinished world, purposefully sculpted for this crowd. The absurdity of this most E3 of demos was clear when we were told: “Imagine if the choices we’d made were different!” Because, of course, if CD Projekt Red were really keen to show us the range of possibilities and branching storylines, then every write-up of this demo would be different. But I’ve yet to hear of any journalists who saw the same demo witnessing a male V who never puffed a single methamphetamine in his life, who righteously grabbed a gun off the corp diva and went into the Maelstrom den, metal spider arms akimbo. As such, it remains to be seen how much branching there will be, and how that will work.

As a demonstration of intent, however, it was an absolute romp, a wonderful showcase of a dirty, flashy, inviting cityscape, full of detail. I almost wish it had been less exciting, because now the final 50 million gigabyte download we see on release will have to live up to this promise. And it probably can’t. But even if it comes close, Cyberpunk 2077 could be astounding.

It sounds like it's going to be a good few years before we get our hands on this, dammit :(

I'm going with late 2020 release on PS4, XBO, PC, PS5 and Xbox Two

It'll run like absolute gooseberry fool on base PS4/XBO, I'm talking 720p and dropped frame on the original Xbone.

The amount of hyperbole being chucked around about this can only lead to disappointment

Yup. It's why I think the RPS preview is the best. It's nothing if not measured.

If it's that impressive why don't they just bloody show it to us.

I've become a bit sour realising how far this, and many other games I'm looking forward to, are off

I know if it's foolish, but I am so strawberry floating hyped for this now! TW3 is easily the best game I've played in the last 5-10 years and it sounds like this is showing CDP making another huge leap forward in what they can achieve, if I have to build a new PC to see this at its best then I am all over it!

Also whilst I kind of get the "why bother having character customisation if you can't see it!" arguments I also think it will be a great feature. If they follow through on their suggestions of how deep the simulation of NPC reaction to your characters appearance is going to be then it will absolutely make it worthwhile.

Also being in first person never stopped customisation of your appearance being a huge part of that game we all play called Real Life!

Most people don't create themselves from scratch. They just brush their hair and gooseberry fool.

Speak for yourself, when I go out on the town I'm like a whole new creation baby! :datass:

It would be good if the level of body awareness in the game were sufficiently advanced to still allow a solid level of being able to appreciate your customisation and appearance.

Can’t find the link just now because I’m literally in the middle of the Scottish Highlands but it sounds like Austin Walker was gushing over this on one of Waypoint’s E3 podcasts and he knows his gooseberry fool about the pen & paper game it’s based on.

Nice. They've been putting out a loooooooad of podcast content these past few days so I have to catch up on it all, but I'll seek this out, thanks!

I am trying not to get pulled onto the hype too much. For now I am content to know it looks like they are doing a good job of it and I can look forward to the release.

However, after reading the interview on Eurogamer, I have to say that this game looks to be literally my dream game if they pull it off as described.

Hmmm, I thought it was general consensus with demoes that if you can’t see someone playing it on a console, it’s running on high end PC.

I take it there's no leaked gameplay footage yet then?

Cyberpunk’s trailer was running at 30fps and other indications to anti aliasing points to console.
