Rumours floating about that this may be first-person only, for someone who doesn't enjoy first-person games anymore this is lowering the hype for me

https://www.gamepressure.com/e.asp?ID=1758

CD Projekt Red has been making games for sixteen years now and there are three Witcher RPGs in their portfolio (excluding Gwent for the moment, since it’s a card game), in which we always watched our protagonist from the third person perspective. That’s why we could safely assume that the Warsaw-based studio will keep that feature in their upcoming title, Cyberpunk 2077. As we unofficialy found out, this time the thing will be completely different and the game will actually be a FPP game with elements characteristic for role-playing games.

If the abovementioned information turns out to be true, we’re in for a serious treat. Cyberpunk 2077 in a first-perspon perspective would be a direct competition to games like System Shock , Prey, and most of all – Deus Ex that always bathed deeply in cyberpunk. Looking back at CD Projekt Red’s gamedev achievements, we don’t suspect the game to be a regular shooter, but rather an action game full of RPG elements that will offer the players many ways of solving problems; basically, it should be closer to Deus Ex: Mankind Divided than BioShock .

I'd prefer third person for my immersion but I'll take first person if I must. I don't imagine it's going to be a stealth game like Deus Ex, but I did like how that had the third person cover camera.

According to early documentation the games would be both first and third person

The game is also rumored to have a character creator which would be pretty pointless if the game was first person only

Pointless until you play the battle royale multiplayer mode, you mean?

Haven't really been following this, but it does look interesting. My only concern is that it's similar to TW3 in that I found said game somewhat bloated. Beautifully made, but not something I found I could get my teeth into.

For me it was another wasteland open world like RDR and BOTW.

If they can produce a living, breathing virtual Blade Runner-esque city then I can't wait.

Riding a horse through empty fields, driving a car through empty desert, I despise that.

I really want this to have tightly packed skyscrapers with the lower level full of stores, brothels and drug dens.

If you're referring to RDR and Mad Max then having them crammed with hugely populated cities and whatnot wouldn't have made sense.

I'm not really criticising the wasteland, the games are set in deserts, they're meant to be like that.

But for me, I like playing in densely populated cities that have atmosphere.

I just want to walk around this...

Sure, absolutely. The somewhat overcrowded cities in TW3 were superb and to see that kind of detail magnified in a Blade Runner-esque vision would be excellent. However, I do like the lonely, somewhat sombre mood of Mad Max and RDR's open wastelands. Very atmospheric, but in a different way.

I'm kinda glad that overpopulation and overurbanisation are essential themes of the cyberpunk genre, they're talking about how much bigger the map will be than Witcher 3... I hope they're talking about verticality.

I need to play Witcher 3 again and actually get to a city, I feel like I'm missing out

You should get into The Witcher 3 because its awesome, the Cities are full and bustling but you can't do much really.

I started off badly last time by going to every pointless question mark on the map before moving on

Also still bitter about not being married to Shani from Witcher 1

The overpopulation part of cyberpunk is true but so is the parallel of wasteland because the idea is population massively expands in urban centres to the point that life outside of the nexus is no longer viable. You also have the wartorn cities and failed projects. Appleseed is a good example of that and some of the wider landscapes of suburbia and facilities in Ghost in the Shell SAC that are really quite ordinary and barren.

Judge Dredd is also a fine example of this. Sprawling Mega Cities separated by miles upon miles of the Cursed Earth.

True, but I'd still like to be contrained to a claustrophobic, densley packed city.

I basically just want Blade Runner the game (without the Director's Cut shitty ending).
