I definitely trust them that FPS is the best way forward. It's just a little different from my expectation and I need to adjust them accordingly!

I've actually started planning the type of character I want to play. Haven't done that since the build up to Skyrim.

Apparently there are hundreds of buildings and thousands of rooms you can enter.

I hope those are bullet points on the box.

And the games size reaches upward to the skyline, as opposed to the flatlands of Witcher 3.

Your wish for a dense, overpopulated, dystopian video game world crammed with skyscrapers and slums stacked upon one another will come true. 8-)

Read the Eurogamer preview and now I'm pretty hyped. X1X should be best console to play it on too.

Most likely it'll work like Shenmue 2's Kowloon walled city where the developers created rules for how a room layout should be and then proceduraly generated them.

Yeah, there's no way she's not appearing in the game in some fashion.

EDIT: Ok, that's very well done indeed.

They state in the Eurogamer piece that they've not used any procedural generation. All hand crafted.

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2018 ... t-about-it

Does it have that Witcher thing of, if you can see it you can go to it?

Patrick Mills: Yeah. Obviously every game has an end, but yes. I don't want to mislead you into thinking you can go into every building. We want to concentrate on that hand-crafted detail. We're not using procedural generation. But we want to make sure that if you see some place interesting, you can go there and experience it. We don't intend to put up any kind of artificial barriers to prevent you from moving around the city. It's very much like The Witcher.

I wonder if they'll have multiple voices to choose from in the character creation, given that at it's supposed to be fully voice acted. With potentially branching storyline as well, that's a lot of duplicated work for them.

They should learn from the mistakes of Fallout 4 and go the route of fully voicing everyone but the protagonist.

Doubt it, they've shown the default female protagonist though...

See Night City Through Your Eyes – Cyberpunk 2077 brings first-person perspective back to the role-playing genre. Deep narrative immersion is a key design priority, and you’ll experience the story of the game’s protagonist entirely through their eyes.

That's a shame. I was just about coming round to the idea of it being first person if it meant you stayed in character for the entirety of it, but it looks like that won't be the case.
