Yup, I bought it at launch and I've beaten it. Otherwise I wouldn't of already played the sequel - I'm sort who likes to play games in order.

Just beaten the second chapter myself.

It's good, but still not in the same league as VLR. It has some cracking lines though, and as I've just found out how to take screenshots, I'll grab any gems I come across.

Definitely one to avoid playing in public though, some moments could get you some very odd looks indeed.

Hangman and the 1v1 battles annoyed me in the first case, but I'm starting to get the hang of them.

I was playing it on the tube during the Eagle moment...

1v1 battles are a pain, doesn't really explain you can aim with the analogue and then press X to slice which makes it easier. It's massively broken in that you can't seem to slice and press L to choose a truth bullet at the same time. There's one section where you will fail because you can't cycle/defend enough to get to the bullet you need.

Ugh I'm stuck on Chapter 3, I've no idea if I'm being dumb or missed something...

I'm on bit where I have to find if the killer was inside the music venue or not, can't figure out what line I should target at.

edit: nvm figured that out by sheer luck...

Nice reference to 999/VLR, although I'm stuck <.< I know 'NEWS' is hint for North, East, West then South but I'm not sure which is north... Never mind, figured it out.. by talking to rabbit over and over again.

Danganronpa 2 beaten :)

Personally I preferred the first's story & setting but it's not to say second lacks these either. Both games' characters are great, the story is excellent and it made me hooked all the way. The second game feels more like game than first one (bar crappy minigames which I didn't really mind in first, in second they're awful).

Last chapter, wow just wow, not going to say any more than that.

I too have finished.

I have similar feelings towards both DR games; they're both good, and have some great moments, but fall short of the best of similar games (Zero Escape and Phoenix Wright).

I'll have to upload some of the screenshots, as there were some fantastic lines in there. What's the best way to upload a few at once nowadays?

SPOILERS WITHIN
I think my main problem with it is that I just don't buy into the core concept of the game like I do with the other series mentioned above. Yes, they're both ridiculous and absurd, but there's logic in there that I can understand and relate to more. I can buy everyone trapped on an island, in a school, etc, but the existence of ultimate hopes, despairs and lucky students just seems a little off, and I think the idea of The Tragedy & The Worst Event in Human History haven't been particularly well realised. Maybe this will changed with the rumoured DR3, though that will probably be a few years off yet.

Due to this, both games taper off a little at the end. Everything ramps up wonderfully, particularly the fifth chapter which is superb, as they focus more on the murders. I have to give credit to some brilliant twists and turns throughout, plenty of surprises in there. There will be times where you can guess whodunnit and others you won't, though it can occasionally suffer when you do know what happened and it takes a while for everyone else to catch up (the same sort of thing happens a lot in PW games). When it's firing on all cylinders, it's right up there with the best of Virtue's Last Reward and Trials and Tribulations. However, when it comes to the endgame, I don't find the narrative to be that compelling, even though I do love Junko. Super Saiyan Hajime felt odd, though I suppose it it hard to go out with a bang in a game like this.

Also, perhaps understandably due to the amount he's in it, Monokuma comes off as a poor man's Zero III. Junkofills that role much better, she's fantastic. The localisation on the whole is excellent throughout, and even though a lot of the characters are very similar to those from the first game, you will become attached to your favourites.

The new sections of the trials weren't great: I didn't mind the Logic Dives, but Hangman can be very frustrating and the Rebuttal Showdowns really needed the ability to swap 'bullets' quicker/rewind. The main court bits still worked well though, and move along very swiftly.

It took me a while to get used to the new map, but it worked well enough.

I haven't tried any of the post-game content yet, but it looks like there's a lot still to be done. Things like the pet and presents seemed superfluous, though the hidden Monokumas were a nice touch.

EDIT- SCREENSHOTS
I've avoided anything from the endgame, but there are still MASSIVE SPOILERS INCLUDED. Don't look unless you've finished. I ended up taking loads, mainly as I had just found out how to take them, so have just uploaded a few.

They're also very childish, so apologies in advance.

Eww imageshack

Soda is my favourite character alongside gamer chick. I like both games' cast, honestly.

It's not great, but I remembered I had an account from years ago so could upload them all in one go.

With regards to Soda, I had him pegged as the traitor fairly early on, so tended to avoid him. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was a strong cast overall, especially once you get to know them in more depth.

It's a very good game overall, but suffers in comparison next to VLR, which is my favourite game on the Vita. I just want ZE3. :(

I'm odd as I much preferred Danganronpa to Virtue's Last Reward, although if I was to recommend either to someone who's not played either I'd go Virtue Last Reward because it offers more gameplay than Danganronpa, then if they're glued to the story then I'd recommend Danganronpa.

Either way, I'd love ZE3 if it ever happens regardless...

I'm playing this on my lunch breaks at the minute and have just got to the first "free time" section. It's interesting but I'm just looking forward to the first murder to happen. I set the logic difficulty to mean so I'm hoping it's not too hard. I like a challenge though.

Got Platinum trophy for Danganronpa

Image
Had to go through extra mode four or five times to get every prize, as well re-played some chapters to get stuff I've missed...

Gonna take breather before doing same thing for Danganronpa 2.

 Same back then. It's worse when that person was first one I've been hanging out with in free time sections.

Half way through the first case in DR1 and it's amazing. The presentation and style is so cool. Actually does a better job of making you feel like a genius detective than Ace Attorney.

I just finished the second chapter of DR2 last night. I swear to strawberry float, if Chiaki doesn't survive this game I'm going to burn the world to the ground.

How long did that take?

I've no intention of going back for extra trophies, but I might play DR1 and DR2 again when DR3 (which I'm guessing will be the last main entry) gets released in a few years time. I think the spin-off launches in Japan next week, and should include some hints for DR3, so there could be news soon.
