I never would have figured out how to get there had I not read a guide on the internet :|

This game is weird as hell in its design.

The DLC isn't as hard to access as the Artorias DLC in DS1, that was ridiculous. At least in this you stumble across the entrance to it as part of the main game, you just probably won't have the key.

You're at the same stage in the game I am now. I walked into the Sunken City until I realised my +10 club wasn't doing much damage so I left again and killed the congregation boss. I prefer fighting enemies I can crush in one hit.

That's true. I had to look up how to access the Artorias DLC as well. That was utterly obtuse.

Yeah, those green dudes hit pretty hard in that area. I have a mace, back attacking them is pretty effective.

OLD IRON KEEP.

20 odd knights in a room, that aggro miles away and can shoot you with arrows. It's virtually impossible to run past them to get to the boss. Who is hard as strawberry float if you are a melee based character. And he guards the second bonfire. Eugh.

I'm fairly sure this room has more enemies in this area than the original version. It was bad enough then. I vaguely remember killing the badguys so much so that they never came back last time.

Unless you are trying to solo every boss, just use a summon and kill that frustration. Iron Keep isn't even that bad.

I'm through it now. Very frustrating. But not as annoying as the Shrine of Amana. That place is a nightmare. I ended up just rekilling the enemies so they wouldn't spawn anymore, and legging it past the big group of them at the cave mouth. Luckily, the third bonfire is in there.

I'm now at the undead crypt, which is the furthest I've ever been in this game. Tries not to ring the bells.

Edit - Beat the main game. Can't decide what to make of this game

Shrine of Amana was a mess, I had to snipe the mages from afar with a longbow.

Managed to beat the first DLC though which was tense. I broke my two best weapons fighting the last boss and had to hide behind some rubble whilst I frantically searched my inventory for something usable. Towards the end when the boss had barely any HP left, he poisoned me so I abandoned all caution and hacked at his legs before I died first.

Fighting Vendrick with four giant souls. It's not going well.

Shrine of Amana was heaven worse in the vanilla version iirc. The homing spell attacks were much more annoying.

Blue Smelter Demon :simper:

That gauntlet to get to him :simper:

I've not yet managed to even get the NPC summons through to the boss room.

Game is now uninstalled, maybe if I'm feeling it again, I will finish the DLC. The first one was very good from what I played of it. Like way better than the areas in the main game. The level design was strawberry floating great if I'm honest, easily comparable with the best from DS1. Especially the situations it puts you in (the ghost soldiers being invincable until you figure out how to kill them, that was really neat). And the descent into the lower levels of the Shrine was really memorable.

After nearly 30 hours, I wanted to move onto something else. I'm glad I beat it, even if I didn't get on too well with it a lot of the time.

Can't remember which DLC it was, but I quit and uninstalled at a bit where you drop down a ladder and get ambushed by about 5 or 6 strong enemies with high health. I remember reading a lot of people saying the DLCs were the best thing about the game but I wasn't particularly arsed about them.

Decided to go back to the DLC for this after completing the DS3 one. Crown of the Sunken King was really good despite a bit of a slow start. The Dragon's Sanctum area felt very Zelda-ish and I enjoyed that more than a lot of areas in the main game. I can see why a lot of people think that's the best souls DLC so far.

Holy strawberry floating gooseberry fool that Iron Passage area. Genuinely one of the cheapest areas in any Souls game topped off with a banana split of a boss.

Summon NPCs? They're not making it to the boss. Take the shortcut? No summons for you!

strawberry float off.

Yeah I abandoned the game there and haven't played it since. Crown of the Sunken King was fun though, the final boss was a satisfying fight.

That section is just an optional side area anyway so I just strawberry floated it off and did the proper boss.

Just started the third DLC now.

Yeah each DLC has a little dungeon area with an optional boss.

Randomly put this on earlier, im at some big frozen castle place. Didn't realise it was a dlc area until I beat a big lion boss and some women talked about a king. Went to fight said king and had to beat about 15 tough enemies (which I actually thought WAS the boss), then the strawberry floater shows up and two hits me. strawberry float off.

As I didn't realise I'd left the main story I may leave the king for now and try to pick that up again. It's been so long I can't remember what I've actually done.

You need to release three or four other knights that are trapped in cells around the level that help you in that boss fight otherwise you'll get strawberry floated.

I found another earlier actually. God knows where the others are as I thought I'd been everywhere. Saying that there's two warp icons blank so I've got more to find obviously.

Amazing how you can not play something for a year and then somehow git gud buy doing so
Found 2 of tower imprisoned knights in the dlc and decided go back to the main game.

Just beat all 3 dragons outside the dragon shrine without taking a hit, and also got a key of some sort from the ancient dragon. I looked up what it was for in s guide as it's been so long I don't know where to go any more. Did one memory so far.

Am I right in thinking I'm near the end of the game? Feels low there's not much left to do.

Yeah, if I remember correctly the memories are pretty much you doing a sweep up of things before the last boss, but it's been a hot minute since I played DaS2

Decided to explore some early areas which clearly had more bonfires to find and ended up finding a memory boss in the forest of the fallen giants, right by a bonfire. Felt significant as i had to put a ring to open a door after beating a knight.

Feels like the end is coming so I'm going to find our how to access the other two dlc areas first.
