Start with DS1.

Yeah, I'm playing through DS1 at the moment, and wouldn't want to do the third game before it. There are apparently a lot of callbacks to its prequel, so I'm looking forward to seeing how the story and world moves forward. Probably won't have the same effect going backwards.

If you don't have a PS3 and DS at hand, I'd play Bloodborne, personally, especially as you have started it already. It's also, at the moment, a complete stand alone game and you don't have to wore above what experience you are getting by playing it out of order.

It's also, probably, a bit easier in terms of how you decide to build your character. I found DS initially a lot more confusing. There's a helluva lot more scope for character builds and equipment in DS.

Thanks, guys. I don't have DS I and, as I've already spent way too much on games in the past few months, I'll hold off from grabbing that.

So... it seems that the suggested order for the games I have is:

1) Bloodborne
2) Dark Souls III
3) Dark Souls II

Okay, thanks again for the thoughts. I'll return to Bloodborne and conquer that before taking on the two Souls titles. By early evening I feel sure that I'll be ready to rant, cry and moan in the Bloodborne thread :toot: .

If those are what you have the yes, do bloodborne. It's also considerably 'easier' than DS2 and you'll probably have a lot more fun. I'm right near the end of DS2 and having played demons, ds1 and bloodborne I'd say ds2 is really only for those experienced in the series.

I don't really know what that means, Hexx... but I'll look out for it :toot: .

Yep, Bloodborne seems to be the popular choice and so I'll tackle that first. I'm currently preaparing myself to display fortitude, patience and a touch of grit 8-) .

Nah, Ludvig's Holy Cheat Code for the win.

Gonna put my thoughts in on difficulty, even having finished all the Soulsbourne games I still think Demon's is the hardest. The penalty for dying is much higher than the others since the game actually gets harder each time you die and certain quest lines can only be completed if you almost never die. I've only finished it once (with liberal use of backed up save files) and I find going back to it a chore.

Remember, it also applies to this game that you don't want to keep using heavy attacks. I'd recommend not picking the axe as your weapon as a lot of people seem to do as it's quite slow which won't help you being new to this sort of thing. Fast fast fast is the way to go.

tbh, I think you'll be all Souls'd out by the time you've played 2 or 3 Souls games, so leave 2 until last as it's a sidestep both in story and quality. Then if you don't bother playing it at least you've played 1 which is absolute must. And Bloodborne (but I don't have a PS4 so I forget it exists).

Just started this today. Wow, the production values really are a cut above the first game. Looks incredible, they really did a great job with the remaster.

Only an hour in so far, looks to be more of the same. Which is a very good thing indeed. Haven't died yet. 8-)

Dark 2 does look better than Dark 1 and it's still a great game but Dark 1 outshines it a lot. I still enjoyed Dark 2 and mean to go back to Scholar at some point.

To be fair I've barely played much of it yet, but it looks decent so far, i think coming straight from DS1 the increased (and steady) framerate makes a huge difference. Also the opening cinematic was really impressive.

Please please please try it without a guide this time.

You're not a beginner anymore, so you have no excuse. The training wheels can come off.

Approaching the end of Dark Souls at the moment (just the one Lord Soul left to get and presumably the final boss) and tempted to start this straight after to coincide with Reddit's replay.

Problem is, Zelda is looming large on the horizon and I don't want to abandon it half way through.

I am using a basic roadmap to point me in the right direction but nothing like as comprehensive a guide as last time.

That's a definite improvement, though you'll also be missing out on the whole "I'm miles off the beaten track, where he strawberry float am I/am I even supposed to be here yet" feeling which the series is famous for. As well as inadvertently "sequence-breaking" and stumbling across a cool item that eventually makes a later section elsewhere much easier. I quite like the fact that, in the early game at least, you're often given three or four different paths, with no indiction which way is best.

You really should go in blind for one of these games. You might only have Dark Souls 3 left to do though if you're Xbox-only.

Make sure you do the DLC before the final boss.

The final boss of the dark souls 1 dlc is strawberry floating hard man, can't beat Manus to save my life. Can never get anyone to summon either.

You're using the NPC summon right?

I have, but feels pointless to use.
