I don't like invading others and would prefer to help other gamers. I was just putting it out there as the game tries its best to cheat the player anyway.

you can help other players in the catacombs, wait for them to across the bridges and then flick the switches to drop them to their deaths

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

You got to Ornstein & Smough really fast for someone having trouble with the lizards in Sen last night.

- If you haven't gone there already, go back to the Undead Asylum and there is a door to the left of the starting area which is easy to miss. This will take you to the "Lower Taint".
- Kill Any/all Grobens you come across and continue forward until you meet the black stranger. DON'T ATTACK HIM
- Listen to what he says (or you can just skip until he keeps repeating himself), then kill him.
- He will drop the 'Ring of Paranium'. Pick this up and then go up the ladder and this will bring you back to the room where Havel was/is.
- Run past Havel (or talk to him if you like as he wont attack you if you have equipped the ring) Then carry on up the stairs to the top of the tower.
- At the top, speak to 'Feltch the armourer' and he will give you a 'Flangestone' (IMPORTANT - Don't equip it)
- Go back to 'Firelink shrine' and pick the 'Covenant of bayge' from 'Arquete' , she will upgrade the Flangestone to a Flangestone +1
- Also buy a flask of "Rusty Pipe Water"
- You simply need to take that, along with the 'brown pebble' (from the starting area) back to the 4th white tree in the forest by the Hydra (about halfway down on the left) Drop the pebble and drink the from the flask.
- A cutscene will play and the Hydra will die and the lake will drain. This will then take you to the "He Mel Hem Stead", prob the best level of the game IMO.

Good luck.

Is this even a spoiler at this point? I mean it's fairly obvious this is what you're meant to do.

How the strawberry float did people figure that out?

I managed to play a bit of the Switch network test. Interestingly, it works offline outside of the advertised hours.

+ Portable Dark Souls
+ Seems to be technically competent in terms of its targeted performance

- 30FPS feels sloooooooow compared to the smooth 60FPS of the PC original with dsfix
- Swapping the A and B buttons on menus (with no apparent way to customise them)

It's a good way for newcomers to play one of the best games ever but anyone with a PC, PS4 or Xbox One should go for those options as I can't recommend playing in 30 FPS when there is an alternative available.

There's a free trial of Switch Online that you can use.

I've started on Switch in portable mode. Graphics and sound seem fine. It's all a bit dark, though :shifty: .

Saw beastie through the barred windows. Rested at bonfire. Wandered into chamber. Died.

I think I need to play on a bigger screen and learn what is going on before I play in portable.

I think this may be one of those games I put on hold buying for a while, still have the likes of Octopath, Torna DLC, Hollow Knight and Pokemon Let's Go (in a few weeks anyway), more than enough to keep me busy.

Must resist...…..

I've not played beyond that opening fifteen minute bout, Mafro. I hope to give it another spin later!

Played a couple of hours of this on Switch now. Not sure if it's easier than DS3 (the only other one I've played) or if I've just "got gud" but I'm not finding it anywhere near as frustrating as I expected so far.

First "boss" was a piece of piss who I destroyed on my first go, whereas I spent ages having my ass handed to me by the first DS3 boss!
