Green Gecko wrote::lol: this gooseberry fool reminds me of the original Resident evil 4 port for PC. Sure, you can play it in higher resolutions but they've pretty much removed the aesthetic of the original game in the process by most likely simply omitting finely tuned graphical effects like lighting in favour of global illumination and a bit of ambient occlusion that basically requires no human input, making everything appear flat. Good job.

It's hillarious that user hacks like dsfix and post processing like supersampling still do a better job than an official re release years later.

DSfix was out within hours of the original PC release. Can't believe how lazy that port was, I think it was locked at 720p 30fps with a bunch of effects missing or something daft like that.

I'll say it again, to be called a remaster a game should have to go through some sort of certification procedure. PORTING a game and unlocking the frame rate isn't remastering it.

According to that DF vid it's an upscaled port with minor lighting and texture changes. Was going to plump for the Switch version but I want to see how the framerate holds up. In the meantime, I'm back on the Prepare to Die version with DSfix.

This is going to be like Dark Souls 2 on Xbox One/PS4, in that it'll be the same but run at 60fps. The difference is DS2 wasn't called a remaster.

Exactly.

I never played the original so I'm not too fussed about the (lack of) improvements. Starting to set my mind that I'd like to get the PS4 version.

if youve never played the original this looks (so far) like a great option. its a shame for people who already own it though (especially the PC users).

I will probably still buy this regardless, it still a game I would have some time for. I haven't tried sorcery or other builds.

It is a bit misleading though.

Jawa. You've not beaten the Cleric Beast yet. Save yourself and just don't buy this yet.

Jawa :dread:

There's hardly any gameplay between starting this and getting to the first boss proper, so there's even less game here for you than bloodborne.

 . I'm not sure that the smaller Switch screen is the right place for me to tackle it, Dual. I started the Souls-Borne games on PS4 and it feels like the right path to continue on :) .

I've got around six weeks before this arrives... plenty of time, Matt, for me to finish off CB and earn the title of "Hunter" 8-) .

This does put a second though in my mind. With Bloodborne I've enjoyed the challenge of "gettin' gud" on the way to facing the first boss... I may get frustrated if I have s boss to tackle straight away. Hmmn.

Do you not have your dock set up, Jawa? Just curious about the 'Switch small screen' thing you're mentioning.

Yeah, I probably split my gametime 50/50 between the dock and portable modes, Karl. It's just that, having played a wee bit of Souls II and a bit of Bloodborne on PS4, I think that I woud prefer the detail of the PS4 display due to the dark graphic styling. I've not fully decided yet, but I'm leaning that way at the moment.

Weirdly enough, though, where I to be able to get the Souls amiibo then I'd probably go for the Switch version   .

Will Jawa beat the undead asylum? Or will he go hollow and insane? I'm eager to know this.

I'm having a re-think about getting this; at launch, anyway. Am I realistically gonna be anywhere remotely near completing Bloodborne by the time this launches? Definitely not, and it'd be silly to try and tackle both at the same time.
