I've had this for ages but it's still in the shrink wrapping :fp: Should finish Spiderman this weekend, and then it's either unwrap this or unwrap Hitman or continue God of War or continue Horizon Zero Dawn.... decisions :dread:

First "boss" was a piece of piss who I destroyed on my first go, whereas I spent ages having my ass handed to me by the first DS3 boss!

nah DS1 is easier, especially in the early game (just before Anor Londo and the Lordvessel)

I'm definitely finding this to be true. I still haven't got all that far in this (at least as far as I know!) but it's been a much more enjoyable experience than DS3 overall!

Beat a couple of bosses last night including one who I can't believe is even fit to be in a Souls game, Pinwheel I think he was called? Some necromancer type dude at the end of the catacombs section with all the skeletons. Basically stood around whilst I hit him a few times and didn't even do me any damage!

yeah Pinwheel is a bit of a strange one as to why hes such a joke
theres some suggestion its some storytelling to reinforce what a sad/pathetic story he is
i cant believe that they playtested it and went "yup hes the right level of challenge"

Yeah it does feel like nobody bothered to test the difficulty curve on that bit at all!

Marching onwards nicely now but it all still feels very easy compared to what I was expecting - did they tweak the difficulty at all for this remastered version? I beat another couple of bosses on my first go last night (well one boss and one "mini-boss" is probably more accurate) but it still feels like I should be getting spanked more than I am!

Gaping Dragon was the last one I took down yesterday - he was impressive looking but didn't really do much other than a move that seemed to consist of falling on his face which I could roll/run around and then he would just lie there and let me whack him about 4 times before repeating!

DS1 lets you do a lot of stuff in odd orders at the start.(e.g. Pinwheel could be your first boss. I think technically about half the bosses could be..)

I imagine once you start reaching later sections you'll find some more challenges.

Cool - I had picked up on the out of order nature of things and figured that might have been part of the reason. I really like that once you reach the Firelink shrine near the start you've got several directions you can head off in and the game allows you to actually make meaningful progress in them without sending you back.

Also the design of the locations is just much better than what I recall from DS3, the way things loop back into other areas and you feel like everything is connected is just a really pleasing experience!

Yeah from Firelink I think you can do 8 bosses as your first...(some of them require certain...starting choices...but not are glitches/squencebreaking...that would take the list up to about 15!)

So while there is a "suggested" order in difficulty, it's also pretty easy to go other ways. (Particularly Pinwheel which requires no special items or knowledge of unlockable shortcuts...just to pick that direction first)

(Edit- Also the first DS3 boss is a complete beast btw]
Also everything is connected...other than...well...you'll see. And the DLC)

Yeah I found the first boss in DS3 to be ridiculous, I only beat it through sheer dumb luck in the end.

The Moonlight Butterfly is the only thing that has given me much trouble so far and that was mainly because I just couldn't work out a good timing to dodge one of the main ranged attacks it does. Came back later with a beefed up axe and walloped the gooseberry fool out of it though!

Into Blight Town now and things have started to get a bit trickier, mainly because I keep getting strawberry floating poisoned rather than anything else!

Also just realised what kindling at bonfires does so that should make things a bit easier as well.

Blight town is awesome. Go get the Rusted Iron Ring at the asylum though. You'll need it soon.

Panting like a pervert in a sauna.

Been meaning to get back to this, especially after watching H Bomberguy's videos on the Souls/Bloodbourne games. See if I get on with it better playing more aggressively like he suggests.

I'm going to have to give DS1 a replay soon, as well as play DS2 & 3 for the first time. I finished it around the time it came out but don't feel like I was able to properly get into it for reasons outside of the game. Being more familiar with the concept now, and with Bloodborne becoming one of my favourite games ever, hopefully it'll grab me more than it did back then.

That Limmy clip. I've had his streams on in the background while doing other stuff and the armour sounds as you roam about are oddly relaxing.

Still jogging along with this on Switch and enjoying it way more than I thought I would! :toot:

Got quite a few routes open to me at the moment so I've been pushing out in each direction and seeing how I go. Finally started exploring the New Londo Ruins after having out them off for a while because of the bloody ghosts needing you to be cursed to attack them. Eventually found a dude who sells an item to let you attack them for a while, only to then kill him by accident... Whoops!

I have completely rekindled a new love for the souls series

played a bit of ds:r doing a gimmick run and then tried out a randomiser which was kooky and fun

then figured Id retry ds2 and found some things about that I really like (amongst the shite parts) and even started bloodborne on the ps4 which Im coming to the conclusion is a god damn masterpiece

just setup demons souls on pc emulator and that seems to be working great so far too

Do you have the DS2 DLC? It's really, really good.
