The Drake Sword isn't very good. The Zweihander is a weapon that can last you all the way to the end of the game, and you can pick it up off the floor in the Graveyard at Firelink Shrine.

I've spotted a few areas like Anor Londo and that lava place after Blighttown, so may give them a go. It also comes to mind that I need to get back to the undead asylum and get a few special items (according to the walthrough on IGN).

How have you spotted Anor Londo if you haven't got through Sen's Fortress?

From the back entrance of blighttown yes, i think thats anor londo? I cleared undead asylum apart from the stray demon. I was hoping to have some online help, but couldn’t see any summon signs. I spent quite a while farming humanity in the depths, which i felt was a necessity going forward.

Currently i have the drake sword at +2, but thats not strong enough for the lizards at the beginning of sens fortress.

no that's New Londo :)

How do i get to anor londo?

Through Sen's Fortress.

But i can’t even beat the two lizards outside of sens fortress! I might do darkroot basin.

What weapon are you using and what level is it at?

Drake sword + 2

The Drake Sword is only good for the first few areas and after that it's easily outclassed by other stuff you can get. Plus, it can only be upgraded with dragon scales which are hard to come by. Are you concentrating on strength or dexterity?

The main weakness of the Drake Sword is that it doesn't scale with your stats, meaning as your level goes up it gets comparatively worse. If you've been putting levels into strength or dexterity (but don't tell anyone you levelled dex) then other weapons of equivalent level will be stronger, even if their raw damage is lower.

That's what the letters are when you look at the weapons, as well as the +X on the damage stat. Just how well they work off your stats.

Oops! Strength, endurance and vitality mainly. I have the black knight sword, but can’t wield it!

Black Knight Sword got me through the game three times over, it would definitely be my recommended pick. If you're at that stage of the game you can't be too far away stats-wise, if so try a little grinding of souls to get you up to the requires levels. You'll be amazed at the difference it makes.

Will do - shall i keep increasing strength? Got havels ring which took a few goes, but his slowness was used to my advantage.

You require 20 Strength and 18 Dexterity to wield the sword, after that it scales best with Strength so just pump all your points into that plus Endurance and Vitality as necessary.

That's one of the best weapons in the game. Level your stats up so you can wield it, focus on strength after that and you can just stick with it.

I can wield it now, but its still less powerful than my drake sword and I need twinkling titanite to upgrade it, which I don't have because I upgraded the great black knight sword stupidly. I cannot wield that weapon at all! :fp:

It might be slightly less powerful now, but because it scales with Strength it will increase in power every time you level up, whereas the Drake Sword won't. It's not all about upgrading, although obviously you should do that too.

Even on +0 upgrades and the minimum stats to wield it properly it should hit 276 Attack Rating. Which should be better than a +3 Drake Sword.

Also, you can just use it two handed if you don't meet the requirement to use it in one hand.

Its 222 or around that at the moment. I wish I had read a guide before hand as I also failed to kill someone I should have as its made the game more of a pain!

Yeah! Anyway, I just need some powerful armour and that ring that increases drop rates so that I can get more humanity.

you dont need armour at all in Dark Souls - aside from resistances in Blighttown, Izalith, and
Seath's
boss fight maybe. you can run around naked and youll be fine and youll be better at actually dodging stuff
