Labyrinth for me, must have watched it 100 times as a kid and had no idea Bowie was a music icon at the time. Thinking of that role, there is literally nobody I could see filling a role like that if they ever did a remake.

I wonder in 30 odd years what stars of today will be remembered so fondly. I can't think of a modern solo star anywhere near the likes of these legends.

In 30 years, the stars of today will be the ones electronically voted for last month via the mutant descendant of Pop Idol. Anything older will be trash.

Not many Current Rock bands will be no where near the Legendry and icon status of David Bowie, Lemmy, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Status Quo, Ozzy Osbourne & Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden the surviving members of Pink Floyd. All of them are icons and one off's in likes we will never see again which is a scary thought once they do die Rock is going to be a mediocre imo

My Favorite David Bowie Song's

In 30 years it'll be people like Thom Yorke, Dave Grohl, Daft Punk and Jay-Z. Then ten years after that, Keith Richards

I didn't think David Bowie would ever die. Truth to tell, I'm not even sure he was ever really alive to start with.

It's impossible for us to know what current day stars will be thought of highly in 30 years time. I'm sure the 30-40 year olds in 1975 thought Bowie was overrated and nowhere near as good as the singers that they liked.

Was never enough of a fan to get his discography but I appreciated his talent and it was always a treat when his stuff came on the radio.

Immensely saddened hearing this news today. He was a pop icon and unrivalled in his originality.

I was trying to pick a favourite song which is just near impossible.

RIP Starman

Very few musicians deserve the title of genius, but Bowie was certainly one of them.

Such a strong back catalogue - it's hit after hit. Just watched Ep 2 of Deutschland 83 and this blinder pops up at the end:

David Bowie created a flying snowman in his youth. All the evidence I need that he was not from this planet.

His cameo in Zoolander

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust is the only Bowie album I've heard from start to finish. Great album.

That song that came later on, Dancing in the Street is absolute guff though.
