I'm gutted about this more than any other artist who has died recently or who will in the future. I grew up listening to his music.
I fell in love with labyrinth as a child which got me into his music and from then on I hunted out his stuff on cassette.I had this great vhs as well in the early nineties of all his videos through the years which I played repeatedly in my bedroom.Through my teens I carried on buying his music and introducing my mates to his stuff .Still today I listen to Bowie on a regular basis, just gutted by this ,it's not much of a change but I'll listen to some more Bowie today.
I wonder what will happen regarding the music he was making though as he only released a new song and video last month and album just now.I believe he did more .
After hearing this on the radio this morning, I was genuinely shocked but the above tweet actually moved me to tears. I've never been a massive Bowie fan but his music was a constant throughout my childhood. And it must be impossible to list all the music I really love that has been directly or indirectly influenced by him. Reading around his influence this morning I came across this cover. Sounds like it was a big internet thing a while back but I must have missed it so apologies if its old news. It's even got an interesting story around it too so I'll post a link.
I've been a big fan of Bowie as i said and he had so many great songs in the 70's and 80's but some of his nineties and early 2000's music is still some of my favourite. Heathen is an amazing album and one i highly recommend if you haven't listened to it before. The second song down is from that album.
