2006 Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
2007 Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow
2009 Resistance: Retribution
2011 Uncharted: Golden Abyss
2012 Uncharted: Fight for Fortune

I own all of these games and love them all, Bend are a brilliant studio imo. I would have much preferred a new Syphon Filter (Dark Mirror and Logan's Shadow were some of the PSP's best games) but I'm still happy to see this. I'm a sucker for post-apocalyptic survival and zombies - my only concern is that it looks /so/ similar to The Last of Us.

But I guess that's no bad thing.

Not so taken with this. I hope I feel differently when the time comes for its release but, as it stands, Days Gone just incorporates too many genres / games that are still fresh in the memory (namely, zombie, post-apocalyptic and open world games. And The Last of Us.) without adding anything obviously exciting of its own. Maybe the fact the monsters aren't front and centre in the protagonist's life, that he has a job other than survival, will help differentiate it from the pack. Oh and, the gunplay looked pants.

It does seem to be lacking a USP, but maybe the horde behaviour/volume of zombies is what will provide that. The gameplay demo didn't really demonstrate that very well though as they really lacked threat.

The guns and the hoarde I think you just have to ignore from that gameplay demo. On a conference stage like that you have to be invulnerable and probably have unlimited ammo so I wouldn't take that as any indication of how the game plays.

I get the concerns that it might be too close to TLoU or post apocalypse/zombie fatigue but I thought it looked great and showed a lot of promise. Seems like it was this years Horizon Zero Dawn so probably late 2017 early 2018 with lots more to find out about the game.

Looking forward to seeing it develop. I'd love it if it's a travel the country on your bike surviving kind of thing :datass:

The amount of stuff I think that seems to be almost the exact opposite of you is really quite strange.

The whole biker and story stuff in the trailer looked boring as hell.

My interested went up by factors of magnitude when it went into combat with 100s of enemies clambering over stuff to get at you. That whole sequence looked amazing to me as it was, doesn't need any more tinkering, they just need to focus the game on that kind of gameplay and hopefully keep the boring stuff to a minimum.

Ah but do we agree on what's boring.

Not sure we do. I'd be happy with a game all focused around the gameplay seen towards the end of that gameplay video, from your comments it seems like you wouldn't.

No, I'm happy with battling and escaping a HORDE of zombies the way it was demoed just looked a little off to me because of what kind of demo it needed to be. I'm equally happy exploring a world, having moments where the pace is slow and there's some investigating environments to be done. Riding cross country with branching routes, stopping off at places to fill resources and taking your chances with finding goods or a bunch of enemies.

It all sounds good to me.

Just been watching the YouTube post conference stuff from last night, there was an interview with the devs with some more information...

Open world sandbox gameplay.
Deep single player story.
Your bike is individual and 'another character' in the game.
Full day night cycle, more dangerous at night.
Full dynamic weather effects which effect bike handling.
World is actively out to kill you.
Set in the high desert of the Pacific Northwest of America.

One thing I would like in a post apocalyptic game would be for not to be set in the US, 99% of the time it's in the US.

Zombi(U) and Mad Max have you covered

I like the sound of open world, that differentiates it a lot more from TLOU. On the horde part of the demo, what felt off to me was why they were stopping to shoot at the zombies at all when there were clearly so many of them. That and on the roof when it clearly looked like he should have got at least hurt.

Extended gameplay demo

Keighley discussion with devs

They've been working on it for 3 years already.

They describe it as an open world sandbox. Discussion also of leveling up your character.
- Full weather system and day/night cycle
- Set in the high desert of the pacific north west
- You will ride the bike, handling affected by weather and time of day
- You can encounter the horde everywhere in the game world
- They're not zombies, they're freakers
- This is definitely not The Last of Us 2 :shifty:

Wow this is a suprise how good this looks and sounds. Looks like they made an awesome Walking Dead game, bike is a cool addition.

After listening to what the devs had to say in the interview conducted by Geoff, I have come to the conclusion that this was very poorly demoed. I mean, if it's true what they say, that the game is a open world *and* a sandbox which allows for upgrading a character with various abilities that then open up new methods (many, many new methods) of tackling surroundings and enemies then why didn't they show it? I ask that because that one utterance during the interview I found to be more interesting than the demo itself.

Looked like a shaky TLOU clone.

If what they said in the interview is true then it's a hugely expanded TLoU.
