Something else demo didn't have time to show: the various monsters types compete against one another to survive.

Liked the look of the demo, definitely had a good panicky vibe to it when the horde began to swarm. One to keep an eye on I guess.

Monsters will be much more difficult to kill in game proper; dev confirmed that the E3 demo basically had one shot hit kills turned on.

If they had shown (or even suggested) it was open world in the demo they'd have differentiated themselves a lot more from TLOU. Instead we got a linear-looking demo that screamed clone.

I'm listening to the interview in bed last night and I just watched on in disbelief. They could have have done something akin to QD's Detroit video where multiple choices were shown in a blown up diagram and truncated manner but no, they chose what they chose, got to show the game off TWICE and still didn't come close to explaining why their game could be potentially amazing other than monsters + pretty fx. :fp:

I haven't played LoU yet, I know it's critically acclaimed but whenever I see footage of it I just think it looks like any other third-person action game.

What am I missing?

The narrative. It is pretty run of the mill in terms of gameplay, but its characters and the way it delivers it's story is unparalleled in games. Buy it for a tenner, whack it on Easy and just experience it. I honestly think every "gamer" should.

Anyway, this is a weird one. Demo looked gash, apart from the numbers of enemies on screen, but the interviews after make it sound really quite interesting. Hmmm...

If a game's characters/plot has never had a impact on you: Nothing at all.

If they have: You are missing out.

And whilst the gameplay is nothing new, that doesn't mean it can't be entertaining. (Not saying anyone is saying that, I just mean it isn't entertaining solely on the story front.)

You should be able to pick up the base game for £20. Story DLC is about £7 on PSN.

Reminds me of World War Z. Not sure I care for the rushing tidal wave of zombies.

Keep in mind that that's just one type of enemy.

I highly recommend that you give the interviews on previous page a watch. (The one with Keighley and the official PS one.) If the keep to what they say they're aiming for then this could be worth a play.

Bugger.
I was really hoping this E3 would see a showcase and a release date this year.

So all we've got to forward to this year is Half Life 3,Portal 3 and Dead Space 4.

Just got wind of the delay. Bit of a bummer, but one less game to buy this year I guess.
