I've just booked a lovely day out at the Farnborough Airshow.
Almost 6 hours of flying displays and some amazing museums and static aircraft displays made it a wonderful day out 2 years ago so I have high expectations for this year. I got a loyalty discount of almost 50% on the tickets and as I'm taking a packed lunch I doubt I'll spend much at the show so it should also be great value.

I'm going with my Dad and I'll take a few photo's with a tablet (Sorry in advance for the image quality I have a camera but I can't be bothered to take it) and post them here if this topic hasn't been pushed down to page 7 by then.

So, what day trips are you looking forward to?

Taking photos with a tablet :dread: Why would you take a tablet on a daytrip but not a camera?

I had a lovely time the day I went Bangor. It was a beautiful day, we had lunch on the way and it was all for under a pound.

Mainly because the security is pretty tight (it's the biggest airshow in the world so a target for those pesky terrorists) and I want to take as little as possible. I also suck at the internet and tech in general and getting the photo's off the camera and onto my laptop so I can post them is a bit much for me :shifty: :fp: .

I may take my camera but as I said you may never see the photo's if I somehow strawberry float it all up which is a possibility.

I take my son out for the day most Mondays. Sometimes just to the local park but occasionally we venture further afield. Wild Place just outside of Bristol was quite fun, I especially enjoyed pretending he was still under 2 so that he got in free. For super cheap afternoons out, city farms are a good place to visit, my lad likes looking at the animals and it’s more fun than sitting at home.

I watched the construction of the Shard (there was a topic about it on here https://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=941 ) and all through construction they promised the viewing platform would be free but as soon as the Olympics happened and chumps like me paid to go up the Orbit viewing platform they noticed it was a money for nothing opportunity of a lifetime and slapped a fee on and now I refuse to go because I'm strawberry floating cheap :x .

I live in Farnborough will see the business week schedule but I get married on the public weekend so will miss some planes.
No red arrows this year and oddly I haven't attended the event for years even though I get a free ticket as they muck up the roads around where I live which is only 0.5 of a mile away from the airfield.

I'm sure he's got a good reason.

Last day trip we did as a family was to London to go to the science museum. It was a decent enough day but I think the kids on the most part were too young to appreciate it.

Previous trip was to the natural history museum which was amazing and the kids really enjoyed it.

So basically dinosaurs are better than science.

One of my favourite bits was the big mural they made with all the stormtroopers in the Death Star hangar doing things like multi-faith awareness workshops.

Going to the Star Wars Gathering event in a couple of weeks in Liverpool. Never been to a convention before so should be quite fun.

Go to the bar at the top of Tower 42, for the price of the entry to the Shard you can get a couple of drinks, and it's basically the same view.

I went to Eastbourne from London yesterday to watch the tennis. Was a bit of a pain because of Southern Rail, but Eastbourne was very nice.

You can't post about your trip to Star Wars Identities without posting your characters! :P
