That may be so, but lets consider this:

The DayZ Mod came out back in February 2013, this was built on the back of software that was already 3 years old.

In December 2013 Bohemia Interactive had taken ownership of the rights and started development of a Standalone version.

So to be fair its really only be in development for 2 years.

Now, lets consider game development timelines for a minuet, in fact lets look at Grand Theft Auto V for instance.

GTA IV came out back in 2008 and GTA V came out in 2013 - There is a 5 year gap between games and this is from a company that spent $137 Million with a team size of well over a 1000 people, and with the ability to call on multiple studios owned by Rockstar.

Compare that to Bohemia Interactive, who have little over 160 staff and I'd would wager that they spent a fraction of that cost on development. (Unable to find actual cost) - In fact I would consider DayZ a side project for Bohemia, especially when their main franchise and money maker is the ArmA series.

You might be right, the game might never get finished - but I think it is unfair to expect as smaller company to release a game with such big scope in less time than it takes a game development power house such as Rockstar or EA.

I think just randomly losing your weapon is the least of your worries in DayZ :slol:

Little gooseberry fools like me, hiding out in a bush prone with a LMG waiting for passing victims to kneecap is more of a worry

Never got the standalone but played the gooseberry fool out of the Arma 2 mod.

I miss DayZ :(

The Arma 2 DayZ was a lot more fun.

See I think it is still the same. Yes there are less weapons, fewer vehicles and you have to be more self aware... but the basic game play is still as it was.

Are there any specifics you don't like about the standalone zXe?

Well mainly it was because of the weapons and military gear, felt more tense. But the new standalone does boast improved performance/AI, better inventory system and more rooms to explore. But I just felt the original had more atmosphere. But It could be because it was new in its infancy and had a lot of players at that time.
