They said the same thing for BvS "Ultimate Edition" and it's still rated 12. :simper:

Saw this again today (unlimited cinema pass has its benefits)

Worse second time around. Very boring in parts and without any depth. The final battle was terribly edited and without any threat. The emotional scenes were also very light and the ending feels like it was cut to make way for a more popular character.

Captain Boomerang, Croc and Katana were the ones with the most potential to entertain. Sadly all sidelined for the Will Smith show.

4/10

Some really weird cutting in places, the fights against the odd-looking henchmen were dull, and the emotional stuff felt really out of place to me. I didn't buy into the emotional connection between the members of the Suicide Squad at all. The jokes were gooseberry fool too.

It seemed quite thrown together really.

Will Smith plays a great Will Smith though!

Highlight: Margot Robbie's butt.

Just got back from this. It felt like a poor man's Guardians of the Galaxy in places (not helped by that one song that's on both soundtracks - Who thought that was a good idea? :fp: )

I feel like it would have been better if they'd introduced the villains in other films, rather than having to explain who they were and how they got caught in the first half an hour. I liked how the first story was pretty long and then every subsequent origin got shorter and shorter until they just thought "nah bugger it we'll just introduce two of them when they all meet up for the first time", like even the guy writing it realised how boring it was :slol: Made it far too obvious which ones were expendable, too. Still not the biggest fan of Cara. Will Smith wasn't awful but had too much of the focus and Margot Robbie was easily the best thing about it even with the diabolical writing ("normal's just a setting on a washing machine" :dread: )

Leto's joker though jesus chuffing christ what are you doing. How is he the one that gets to be in more than one film? :fp: And he got second billing too that's just wrong.

Doesn't fill me with confidence for the Justice League. It still annoys me that they're treating the film and tv universes as totally separate entities. Introduce characters/villains in the shows and then you can save money *not* hiring big names and Ezra Miller and his ilk for the blockbusters.

I wonder what the original film was like before they tried to copy Guardians and Deadpool.

I don't think it would have been much better tbh. The script was only made in 6 weeks before it went into production.

I caught this Thursday night and whilst I had everyone's criticism bouncing round my head, I still found it to be enjoyable. I'd give it a 6/10, some things grated other things not so much, then there was Margot Robbie's ass to compensate.

Having not seen this and having little interest can I ask is the joker as bad as feared when his images first leaked? I'm assuming dark knight still has the best joker depiction.

Apparently he's in it for about 8 minutes total so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Although he does cram a significant amount of being absolutely gooseberry fool into that eight minutes.

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

Thought this was pretty good, barring the entirety of why they were put together - Enchantress was pretty awful. Physical cringed during her more powerful form talking like a 70 year old duchess, wad odd.

Joker was great and in it enough for me, liked the different take. His laugh is creepy as strawberry float.

Did Killer Croc even kill anyone? Very under used which was disapointing. Solid 7/10.

This could've been so good. Highlights were Deadshot and Harley who were awesome and had a really good relationship going on. Leto also did a fantastic job despite every line of his dialogue being completely awful. The pacing was horrendous though. Just 40 minutes of introductions followed by an hour and 20 minute action scene full of one liners. Hmm.. it really did drag and get tiresome towards the end, especially as the main villain was bloody horrendous and so generic.

I think it would've been pretty good if they'd just cut all of the shite characters out completely. They could've easily chucked out 50% of the squad and lost nothing. And then we could've seen more of the Joker's story line to break up the previously mentioned hour and 20 minute action scene. With Joker being a twisted "hero" working to save Harley. I mean, that was essentially what we got. It just had far too much of one thing and not the other.

Music choices were so childish as well. All great songs but completely wasted and they lost all meaning.

Not sure which Batman scene you mean but... the bit where he went for Deadshot wasn't great. If the kid didn't step in the way there Batman would have died; he should be better than that.

Ment the dancing scene woth Joker/Harley paying homage to this front cover from Batman:Harley Quinn. Awesome little addition.

I had a day off on Monday so I took myself of for an early showing.

It's kind off a spin on the Dirty Dozen with these unique DC villains. Having watched it it's not an ambitious movie like BvS that tries to tell a big epic story, but what it sets out to do it achieves and in this sense is more rewarding and successful! It's scope is relatively small, it opens well with a bit of pace, then gets slowed down with showing us the backstory for each of the characters. I really do think Margot Robbie did an excellent job of portraying Harley Quinn's psychotic playfulness, she certainly looked the part, you couldn't ask for better. The Joker I thought was brilliant, he was only in it for a short time but you could see in the eyes that Jared Leto really became the character in his head. Maybe Batman comic readers and movie fans have a set idea of what they were expecting to see but Leto bought real depth to him and deserved to be more than a bit-part. Cara Delevingne can't act for toffee, she has a vacant look behind her eyes that suited her as the undead Enchantress. I don't know who irked me more, Cara's human character or the Will Smith over-acted child. At least he didn't cast Willow.

As was said by someone earlier there was a reliance on licensed music. I wondered if this was because the US rock music was meant to make a statement on these villains being representative of 'Merica, but it wasn't! It was lazy directing & editing because it used famous music to elicit positive emotional reactions that the film couldn't do by itself.

The climax was by-the-numbers. I'm in no rush to see it again but it was perfectly fine lightweight watch and I enjoyed the references/moments that alluded to the wider DC universe.

I think the reliance on licensed music was because it's exactly what Guardians of the Galaxy did and that's what they were going for :shifty:
