It's awesome. I played it seriously as an actual survival sim but did ham it up from time to time. The opening is amazing, can't wait to see what you think of (spoiler).

Pro Tip, use NPC characters (up to 3 can accompany you) and if can, kit them out with good weapons and at least one of them with a gun (but not all) as they have infinite bullets.

Have you been playing it on PC? I've been reading very conflicting reports of its performance on PC - from Total Biscuit complaining that performance is terrible on his super-mega gaming rig, to ordinary gamers on the Steam forum saying it runs fine at max everything on fairly modest rigs. Very confusing.

Yeah this flat out doesn't work on laptop GPUs. The steam forum is going to be worth a look

Sucks as I'm decorating and have packed the desktop away so I'm stuck with my laptop.

Probably something to do with the actual games rendering resolution being hidden behind an obscure menu and not related to the actual resolution you select in the graphics settings. Some probably don't realise they are playing the game at the default 720p. Digital Foundry claims the game maxes out a Titan and i5 quadcore clocked at 4.5ghz with the framerate properly unlocked (capped at 60) and running at native 1080p, while never remaining stable at 60fps. 100% CPU usage is the most concerning thing.

This could possibly be the worst PC port since Dark Souls. Sorry people who bought this, I'm sure some unpaid modders will fix the game pretty soon.

Acquired this from the high seas to see how well it runs on my system.

It's the first game I've had on this system that's pretty much unplayable. Even with everything turned down low it stutters and lags horrifically once I get to the actual City.

Seems my next few hardware purchases will be upgrades to get it back up to spec. :(

It suffers on everything. People on Titans are having trouble. Doesn't support SLI either so there is no option to bruteforce the game into working properly.

I guess. Though my machine is in desperate need of upgrades anyway, this has just confirmed that for me.

It's unlocked!

And it can't even load up the main menu without crashing (Growing thread on the Steam forums of people in the same boat) :fp:

Edit - Even "better" there's people had been playing the cracked game, that can't get the legit version to start up

From watching the totalbiscuit video where he toggles graphical settings showing minimal difference in performance, it appears this games is very heavily CPU limited, which I suppose explains the crazy 100% CPU usage DF mention for their 4.5ghz quad i5. I'm sure the game being built for an 8 core CPU is part of the problem here, the developer has clearly not bothered to re-optimise the code for PC hardware with it's much more limited utilization of multiple cores.

DX12 needs to get a move on it seems.

The game runs for me. It evens runs on with everything on 'High' at both 720 and 1080. I had to go visit the Nvidia control panel to override everything the in-game graphics menu says, but all I can say is I'm getting perfectly decent gameplay (without turning off FX like depth-of-field or motion blur). Perhaps just at 30fps or thereabouts, but its fine. Even the stuttering in the cut-scenes has now gone away.

I've got a lowly GTX 760 (2GB) running on an i7 quad @ 2.80GHz and 12GB DDR Ram. It's nearly five years old.

I think I've just scraped through this one in working order (might not be so good when things apparently get busier towards the end of the game). 360 controller support is fine, too, although I had to turn that twitchy sensitivity down a tad.

Hopefully performance will get even better as the usual clever bods create some graphic mods or find some hidden magic switch to make everything nice again. Hurry up, interwebs!

Oh, everybody's crying on the Steam forum for the game, as well. It's a bit of a sh*t storm at the moment on there.

Well I'm really happy to say that it runs perfectly on my machine at full settings and I'm absolutely in love with the game. There's so much to praise and it could be the best Dead Rising so far. I actually like not having a time limit on the story missions and so far tonight, after a so so intro, I've just been exploring the city and having fun. Some of the combo weapons so far have been incredible and everything feels really improved, apart from the boss battles. Actually being set in a town rather than a mall or casino complex helps a lot too, making exploration even more exciting.

I've also been really creeped out in parts too which never happened before in a Dead Rising game. For example, at one point, I ran inside a dimly lit apartment building with a few straggling zombies inside. I'd just come in from a well let, zombie infested street and the atmosphere of knowing what was behind me and the eerie silence ahead was just one of those moments that makes me realise why I love zombies so much.

I've not felt this excited since the original Dead Rising came out. They've really nailed a big city infestation and everything I said about the art style, I take right back. The comedy and the realistic look go together perfectly so far.

Absolutely love it!

Also, the special combo attacks with weapons are a great, little addition. Really visceral. And I like it when zombies fall into the street from above.

Also, the addition of car/shop alarms that attract the horde really adds to those nice moments of tension.

Some dude called 'PatchesTheFirst1' joined my game. Awkward. Still, he was dressed like a caped daredevil motorcyclist, so that broke the ice. We rode around in an armoured car for a bit tw*atting zombies (I've got a ton of skill points I've yet to use and I'm up to level 8 already). I lost my online friend for a moment when he scurried off into some empty shops. By the time I'd found a working steamroller I could hear my new pal was in trouble. Travelling at full speed (in other words, not very fast at all) and punching zombies out of the cab all the way, I shouted 'Hold on Patches! I'm coming for you!'.

When I found him again he was inexplicably dressed as a bare-chested South American masked wrestler.

Before long we'd each found a motorcycle and we soon went our separate ways. All this time we never exchanged a single word. Farewell, Patches. Whatever you're wearing.

This game.

So glad you guys enjoying it. It's a class game.

I'm with Tragic on this, as I said you can play it 2 ways. Either as a straight up survival game or a nutso zombie slaying fest! It's the best zombie game I've played since Resi 4. Roll on DR4!
