One year exclusives are a little silly IMO. A year after release the buzz will have died down and the publisher won't be making much effort to push the title. The game will probably appear technically outdated compared to other games released on the PS4 at that time and when the sales are low for the franchise, investors will see this as a reason that the franchise should be killed off.

Yes?

Great stuff - I hate timers in games. I want to play at my own pace!

Why even call it dead rising then. These strawberry floating chumps at capcom vancouver just dont understand this game at all. The timer was a great risk/reward mechanic that meant you always had to plan ahead, without it its just yet another zombie game. DR2 was good, but not as good as 1, DR3 was a barrelful of hot piss, CV have gotten worse with every release instead of better.

Opinions gonna opinion. I couldn't get on with DR 1 or 2 but I finished 3 and I HATED the time mechanic, DR3's saving grace is that it gave you a fair bit.

It isn't Dead Rising without the timer. :(

The timer was my least favourite thing about the first game. strawberry float up and you're locked out of stuff and have to start again. A lot more interested in buying this now than I was before.

I always wished for a way to disable or at least pause the timer in the first 3. Just make it optional and everyone's happy.

So did DR1. I am one of the least skilful gamers I know, yet even I found that DR gave me plenty of time to strawberry float about in the mall *and* get to the next objective on time.

The timer was definitely one of the more unique trademarks of the game. (Not unique in the sense that it was totally fresh, but in that it added an urgency missing from similar kinds of games.)

As has been mentioned, it aint Dead Rising without a timer, and a bunch of silly gooseberry fool to do, but thats beside the point right now. A lot of the tension comes from the fact youre up against the clock and have to prioritise some missions over others, removing it just means you can wander along at your own pace and that just doesnt feel right for a zombie game.

An option to turn it off for finishing the game could be a good way to go.

I really liked the timer. I found it really encouraged replayability. Like you had just enough time to explore the environment but not enough to find everything. So you'd still have plenty of fun, new things to find and do on repeat play throughs.

Yeah... Also it does make sense to have a timer.

For example, a group of survivors are fighting for their lives in an area. It would be very baffling to wait for "two weeks" or whatever and the same group are still there fighting.

Or a survivor hanging off from the roof. Don't worry, he'll still be there in three weeks' time. :slol:

I found the timer restrictive at first in the original DR but once I got better at the game, it became doable. I think I would have enjoyed it as much without though and from reading the comments here, it clearly put some people off. I can't remember as much about DR2, but the timer was different, it was just get back to administer a dose of anti-zombie before your daughter turns, right?

I suppose the difference is how people like to play games. The timer in the original really kept the pressure up, not that great if you want to take your time.

Certain survivors or bosses appear at a specific time, but the only urgency is finding the zombrex for your daughter.

Off The Record isn't too bad in that case as the zombrex is only for Frank.

I think I must be the only person who preferred Chuck to Frank. Chuck was so bad ass but still so goofy.
