Ammo is a problem. You can’t do a plasma cutter only run. I found you had to use a set weapon against certain enemies. Great game though.

Think I'm in the last hour or so of this now.
Really enjoyed it but will likely trade it in as soon as I'm done. I did all the side quests and have no real desire to do a New Game+ with how linear it is.

If I trade in my Xbox copy at CeX I'll basically get £18 less than I paid for it back, so not too bad really.

And yeah the Hunter can get to strawberry float.

I'm playing it (GamePass) on Xbox Series S and I've reached Chapter Two.

I have never played the original back then and now I thought it was a good opportunity to give it a go.

I tell you what? I bloody love it! :o to be honest I feel it's missing some oomph from Series S and it would be awesome to play 4K with ray tracing etc.

I think I might be done with the remake. The combination of unskippable cut scenes alongside getting to the final boss short on ammo means I'm not sure I can be arsed to keep plugging away at it (I've died a couple of times up till now). Maybe I'll give it a rest for a couple of days and try again.

Otherwise I've enjoyed it. The last couple of chapters have been a bit of a slog, kill room after kill room. It's difficult to rate against the original because its really just the same game.

I'm playing this at steady pace and I'm enjoying it a lot. I have no idea why I didn't play the original back then.

Anyway, I'm into chapter seven now and I've got an idea what's going on with the story, but I'll see how it goes.

I did end up finishing and I must have enjoyed it enough that I started a NG+ on easy with the intention of just doing a plasma cutter run. It's a very different game at that level with virtually no tension (probably because I've got a level 5 suit and a fully upgraded weapon). The only pain enemy wise are those little bastards where it's not worth wasting ammo and just taking the damage.

I think I will do that after my first campaign and I'm currently in chapter ten. Loving it.

I've completed it and what an ending it was! :o

A brilliant game and it would be nice if they could remake Dead Space 2. I'll have a little break before going for another run with a plasma cutter gun only.

Finished plasma cutter run on easy and by god was it easy. Think I died twice and both were one hit kills (wall tentacle thing took my head off and something else). If you want a challenge I'd go medium at the very least. It does force you to use kinesis and stasis a whole lot more though.

I did the medium difficulty on my first run and it was pretty reasonable. I did die a quite lot cos it was my first time playing it and I didn't know the layout nor the enemies were like.

Impossible run - it sounds impossible. :dread:

Im enjoying this game but the save points are fuckkng me off. Even on normal im having to replay cutscenes multiple times; the lack of ability to skip these on bosses or for Nicole's past scenes or whatever are super annoying.

My main problem with it though is that it really discourages exploration. Initially I was going down random little corridors and places but most of the time I'll have to kill at least one enemy then will find something like 100 credits, which absolutely isn't worth the bullets I just expended. Means I'm just following the set route constantly now.

One tip that you probably already know, only upgrade capacity on an empty or nearly empty weapon as it fills the clip. Also, kinesis and stasis are so the key to ammo management. Stasis an enemy, take of an arm and then impale them with it.

I didn't realise any of that, thanks!

The upgrade capacity thing also works on stasis I think. And don't forget to use kinesis and throw explosive tanks.

Sorry to ask in this thread.

Is Callisto Protocol or Resident Evil 2-4 similar to Dead Space? I've never played them yet and I thought it would be a good opportunity to try them out as I love Dead Space.

Callisto Protocol is the spiritual successor to Dead Space.... But it didn't review well. Can be picked up very cheap though.

Resident evil 2 remake, is pure atmosphere and dread similar to dead space. Resident evil 4 remake is more action focused but still has the horror themes. For pure horror and anxiety inducing terror then Resident evil 4 remake - the mercenaries (free game mode) is amazing.

Wish my image sig would work

I do have Callisto Protocol free from PS+ and I could give it a go.

Cheers for the info.

RE4 is a good companion game to Dead Space. Both are relatively short, action based and have good replay value. RE4 is the better game so you won't go far wrong with that.

Cheers. I'll have a look at these games soon.

Anyway, I've completed it on a new game plus with the plasma cutter gun and it was well easy! I've got all trophies except for the impossible run.

I'm not sure if I can do it. I'll leave this out until later on.

It's probably super obvious but anyone else considering a plasma cutter run, just carry that weapon and stash the rest. You only get ammo from drops for the weapons you are carrying (aside from specific boxes/lockers).
