Action
Cutscenes
Issac has a face and talks
Complete overhaul in setting
The suit looks like something out of a sci-fi film
MULTIPLAYER

It's like they took everything I actually did like about the original and then shat on it :|

Also what strawberry floating pussies were too scared to play Dead Space, it wasn't strawberry floating scary at all, it was jumpy in places for about the first 2 hours.

Despite all that gooseberry fool the preview did remind me of what I loved about the first game and gave me to go back and play it again, for about the 4th time.

I agree with you on most of this, but what's wrong with Action. The last game had Action and was fine.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

What makes me laugh is that people are complaining that it may change a few things - yet we all know these are the same people who would criticise the sequel if it basically equated to Dead Space 1.5. :fp:

What makes me laugh is when people use the word "people" to avoid naming names, and then make sweeping generalisations- yet we all know these are the same people who would criticise those people if they had such generalisations made of them :fp:

Wow, how clever of you.

OR you've made a massive mistake as I wasn't aiming that at anyone in particular, just making a completely valid observation based on past discussions.

Until we get the game in our hands we don't know what's going on, from what I've heard there are more horror elements, such as less encounters, but that the encounters there are have been ramped up in terms of what enemies can do and what options you have, sounds like a fine trade off for me.

The idea of having to use intelligent combat maneuvers or fight harder enemies will contribute to the ammo conservation considerations that make survival horror so good.

And how is the overhaul of setting bad? Another ship and, as Agent said, people would complain it's Dead Space 1.5, I love the look of the new areas.

As said, my only issue is the Gundam suit.

The suit actually makes sense to me, too. Isaac would be an idiot if he carried on wearing that same, cumbersome suit when he knew these things could come back to haunt him.

That all sounds fantastic imo. Nothing wrong with action, the first game had plenty of it (made up the majority of the game) and from the previews it sounds like a step up. Isaac already had a face so no problems there, and as long as they don't make him all gruff and hard then I'm alright with him talking. Much prefer this new setting on a space station, and clearly inspired by System Shock series. Can't wait to see what it looks like. Suit itself looks super-awesome. strawberry float the haters!

Only problem I might have is cutscenes. The first game only really had one proper cutscene at the end, as everything you experienced was first hand (ala Half-Life games). Hopefully they don't take you out of the game too much.

I don't mind a change in setting, but churches and strawberry floating ZOOS, it's completely illogical and gooseberry fool.

One thing I loved about the first was the fact that each room felt designed for a purpose, but crucially not the purpose of you being there. So many games that shouldn't design a world around the person, Dead Space made it feel like you were an intruder in this place you really shouldn't be and that is a BIG part of what made it awesome for me.

This sounds like they're making places for the player to coo at.

Ok yea, I can see where you're coming from with places like Zoos, forgot about those.

The suit makes sense, it's just the design I don't like. Would rather have the military suit from the first game rather than make Isaac look like some space ninja android.

The next post in this thread had better be detailing a HD PSVR remake of Dead Space and Dead Space 2 (3 can GTF) or I'm going to get very cross.

Surely Extraction would be the better one for VR

Loved 2, went from Alien to Aliens. Both were excellent games. The school as well :dread: The 3rd is dogshit

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

After playing it again recently, the first game is more action orientated than you may have originally thought. This game here, it’s more of a ‘blockbuster’ but in terms of gameplay beats, it isn’t widely different.
Oh, br the ending. That almost legitimately ruins the game.

DS1 is legitimately a stone cold classic that is only marred by those god awful turret sections. DS2 is a great set piece game and it gets extra points for taking me back to the Ishimura but If have to agree it's not quite up to 1s standard. I also think the combat is more interesting in 2 but that might be because of the extra experience of playing 1. Isaac is too much of a badass in 2 though, it's never scary (the school is as close as it gets and that's only mildly unsettling).

Bang on. They are so similar that I find it bizarre that some view the first as a classic and the second as an abomination.

Dead Space 1 is Like Resident Evil 4

Dead Space 2 is Like horror Uncharted in space

I like them both but I feel like giving Isaac a voice, and making him a bit of a bad ass made the game a lot less scary and cut away at some of the atmosphere.

I still remember how I felt during the final sections of Dead Space 1, not many games have had me that immersed and had my heart beating that fast.

Still one of my favourite series before they strawberry floated up 3 and put it on ice. Single player microtransactions, and they sold the ending as DLC, truly awful stuff.

Nobody ever talks about Dead Space Extraction. Such an underrated gem.
