According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox's "Deadpool" film finally has an official release date: Feb. 12, 2016. Tim Miller is set to direct, and while reportedly no deal is yet in place for Ryan Reynolds to star, THR says it's likely. Additionally, Fox has moved Josh Trank's "Fantastic Four" reboot from June 19, 2015 to Aug. 7 of the same year.

Although "Deadpool" has been long in development at Fox, it wasn't until animated test footage by Blur Studios leaked online after Comic-Con International 2014 that buzz really began amongst fans. The footage, known to exist via comments from "Deadpool" co-creator Rob Liefeld, featured Ryan Reynolds voicing the popular Marvel character in a far different incarnation than in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." The test footage, which contains adult language, was far more true to the comics version of the character, right down to him breaking the fourth wall.

With the move of "Fantastic Four" to later in 2015, Fox's "Assassin's Creed" is now off the 2015 summer calendar completely. As pointed out by THR, moving "Fantastic Four" to August can be interpreted as Fox taking a cue from the success of Marvel Studios' "Guardians of Galaxy," which was released this past August and subsequently became the highest grossing film in 2014 thus far.

"leaked" test footage that got such positive reaction.

I'm excited for a Fox Marvel movie, what a time to be alive.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

So there's no chance of Ryan Reynolds being Hal Jordan again?

He also voiced the character in Hulk vs Wolverine I think.

Yeah, I think so, what I liked was the 3 different voices he did for him in the game.

Interesting. We'll agree to disagree on that one, I think.

On topic, I nearly wet myself when I saw this yesterday. Reynolds should be good in the role - he clearly wants it and it might actually help clear a bit of his box office poison up.

Direction good, Reynolds bad was my reaction to that clip. The dialogue is cringeworthy.

It was pretty average. One of the better X-Men films from recent times but overhyped.

I still don't like how they promote certain characters over others which ultimately makes the story lack any kind of sense. It's good they dropped focus on Wolverine ever so slightly, but then it ended up being centred more on Mystique (who doesn't have the ability to copy powers?!)

They could have recast Rogue or something if they were worried about star power.

When you say you don't like how they promote certain characters over others, do you mean you take issue with the characters they choose to promote or do you want a film where every character gets an equal footing, because if its latter that isn't ever going to happen.

Basically where they put Mystique in when the movie didn't really require her to be there, at all, other than because she is Jennifer Lawrence. Then as a result they cut the Rogue bits out of the film entirely, when she really needed to be one of the central characters.

New Report Reveals That DEADPOOL Will Be PG-13 And NOT R-Rated
It's thought that Fox were struggling to decide whether to make Deadpool a big budget PG-13 blockbuster or a slightly cheaper R-Rated movie, but a new report reveals that director Tim Miller finally got a green light because they've re-purposed the script and it's now...you guessed it...PG-13!

We've all been wondering about why Fox chose now to annunce a release date for Deadpool, and while the overwhelmingly positive response to the leaked test footage undoubtedly played a role in that decision, it appears as if there was a lot going on behind the scenes as well. In the latest edition of the "Meet the Movie Press" podcast, the host revealed the following (at around the 22:00 mark) about some changes which have been made to the project. "I heard from the director that they finally figured out the script, and it was right before this was announced, that they figured out, and you guys are all gonna hate this, they figured out how to make it PG-13. And therefore "not lose its soul", and that' a quote, of the script so that they can make it."

Is this really the end of the world? The Deadpool comic books sell well every month, and they're not packed full of F-Bombs! As for violence, PG-13 movies seem to get away with plenty, and based on the last couple of X-Men movies, Fox aren't scared of throwing in the odd "f*ck" here and there anyway. It all comes down to story, and as long as Deadpool hasn't lost its "soul", there's no real reason not to still be incredibly excited about the latest comic book movie to be added to an already amazing looking 2016. Or is there?

They're T-Rated, but Deadpool is a mercenary who uses katanas to chop people up. Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn's latest - and very good - run with the character has been supremely violent on panel at times. It needs to be violent, not sweary. It's part of the character.

It would be good if they referenced the situation with the film sitting in limbo for years in the dialogue.
