I have sort of switched off from following gaming related news . Just discovered this week Nintendo is releasing switch and Sony has released pro.

I honestly have no clue what the pro is about and how advanced it is compared to the PS4.

I don't have PS4 and was contemplating either buying the switch or pro . I have xbone which has been great for me but games have taken a back seat last few years due to me traveling a lot .

Which console to buy:

Pro
Switch

If you're still or going to be travelling a lot then the Switch makes a lot of sense. But only if you care for the games

I'd wait to see how Switch's lineup pans out.

Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles 2, look great, but third party support looks no better than Wii U.

PS4 Pro basically runs recent PS4 games in 4K (with better framerates if you're playing in 1080p.

If you missed the Wii U, go for the Switch. This year, you'll get:

1. Zelda
2. Mario Kart
3. Splatoon 2
4. Mario Odyssey

To be perfectly honest (and I have a PS4), you won't find anything on PS4 which is as much fun.

If you've already got an Xbox One then I'd go with a Switch unless there's any Sony exclusives you're particularly arsed about.

How can you say that when the switch isn't even out and neither are those games  The PS4 has a huge catalogue of amazing games to chose from and the base console is cheaper than a switch. the switch only really makes sense right now if you love zelda a lot.

That sounds gooseberry fool. Looks like a revised PS4 don't care for 4K gooseberry fool.

Splatoon 2 is a sequel not a remaster though.

Just wait a couple of weeks and see how the Switch games review and if there are enough games you want on it to warrant a purchase.

Yes?

If you already own an Xbox One then your decision has to come down to how much the exclusives appeal to you.

Early PS4 exclusives like Knack, The Order and Killzone weren't up to much but since then we've had the likes of Uncharted 4, Bloodborne and Horizon Zero Dawn just coming out. There's also remasters of the likes of Crash Bandicoot and Wipeout on the way. If you didn't own a PSVita or PS3 you also have the option to play things lile Tearaway, Uncharted 1-3 and the Last of Us. It's a great system with some fantastic games.

The Switch is more of an unknown quantity but its been received really well by those who have tried it, launch line up is sparse but Zelda looks incredible. By Summer it will have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Snipperclips, Arms and Splatoon 2, all of which look fantastic. If you don't own a Wii U then you don't have the option of playing MK8 or Zelda on that so if they appeal to you then it's definitely got to add to the appeal. You can also of course take it with you and play it anywhere which sounds ideal if you're still travelling lots. You won't get the same third party support as with Xbox One or PS4 but if you own one of those then I doubt that's a decisive factor.

Both systems would be great choices but I'd say the PS4 Pro probably has more going for it right now. Like I said though it ultimately comes down to your preference on exclusives. If I were in your shoes I'd actually get both and get rid of the Xbox One, you'll get all the same third party content on PS4 (often performing better) plus a much broader range of exclusive games. Then you have the Switch for portability and Nintendo games.

As remasters, etc. It isn't backward compatible, though.

I actually made a similar choice between Switch and Pro; my intention was to buy NS on launch, but the launch press conference killed my hype and so I've put buying it on the back burner. I now intend to buy a Pro later in the year.
