Mostly I'm doing the first level of each area. In between levels I'm also farming Red Eye Knight in 1-1 and the white and black skellies in 4-1.

Did you pick up the Silver Catalyst (wand) in 3-1? It's in a room at the end of a long passageway in the tower opposite where you pick up Freke's key. And Freke's Apprentice will teach you Soul Arrow if you have 10 or above magic rating. Buy some Spices from Blacksmith Boldwin too (returns MP), though you should have a few from the octopus heads from 3-1 but buy some more anyway.

For some reason I feel the need to do every level one after each other (1-1,1-2 then 1-3). Must be some kind of weird OCD I have. Though the flamelurker completely strawberry floated all that up.

Yeah I managed to pick up the Silver Catalyst. I take it Freke's apprentice is in the Nexus?

If you can do 4-1 you can get to the best soul grinding place in the game at the start of 4-2. It helps having a good bow for it, you just have to kill the reaper, then run back down the hall way and jump off a cliff, then when you revive, pick up your souls rinse and repeat.

I ended up not really caring about the souls I had on me when I died, because they we're so easy to grind.

Yeah, he's behind the world five stone. And Freke himself will be to the right of him (slightly hidden away).

Yeah, it was annoying losing them but they are easy to get back if you can farm 'em.

Losing souls isn't that much of an issue once you've unlocked 4-2.

I currently have a Halberd +3, should I keep upgrading that or should I ditch it and go looking for a better weapon? I also have 4 boss souls, can I use one of them to have a 40 foot halberd or something?

Not what you're asking for, but...

If you take a Halberd +6 and the Grey Demon's Soul (which you get from killing Vanguard in 4-1) to Ed he'll make create a Dozer Axe for you.

Yeah, I was just checking out the weapons on there too. The Meat Clever looks interesting. :lol:

The Meat Cleaver is an absolute beast. It looks like a sword, but it's basically a hammer (it has the same animations as a hammer weapon). Bear in mind you'll need a high strength stat to use it.

It's easily one of the best weapons in the game, until you get the Blueblood Sword or Northern Regalia.

Paid another visit to Stonefang Tunnel after having cleared it. This time I took the left passage after the spider boss. The things I found! Kerploding bugs! Some v nice weapons (two axes and a dragon sword+1). A lava chamber with yet more kerploding bugs and loot tantalisingly out of reach... surrounded by lava (I'm guessing I need more fire resist gear :lol:

-think found a fire resist ring in the passage that lead to the chamber), and two black phantoms... guarding a "room" full of crystal lizards (the left side of that level, after the spider boss, must have more crystal lizards in it than anywhere else in the game)! Will be buying an AOE spell and paying them another visit as I only managed to get two

Oh and, I also met another NPC

There was one Sunday afternoon where I just sat and repeated that bit for about three hours :lol:

once you've done the 4-3 boss try giving yourself black world tendancy in that zone for even more souls per run. You could do it before you've killed the boss, but i found 4-2 hard enough with normal world tendancy >.>
