It is incredible that the government is diverting money anywhere that isn't the NHS right now. Everyone i know that's had recent interaction has experienced long wait times and barebones treatment.

I hope it improves quickly Ad

Turns out she didn't get moved in the end, but only when she told them she can't walk. Nobody had bothered to ask what her mobility is like. Also she's on laxatives so would have sat in the main reception and shat herself in front of everyone, which would have been very dignified.

Had a heavy burning pain in her stomach, complained about it at 5am, nobody came to see her. Constant "oh the doctor is coming". So I went up just now and constantly asked everyone in sight when the doctor was coming. Lo and behold, half an hour later, the doctor and a team arrive. Ffs.

Just caught up on all this. God, it’s horrendous what you’re both going through. How everything can be upturned, so completely and so suddenly. Because I’ve read back through the thread in one go, it stands out that it was just ten days ago that you couldn’t even get a GP appointment. The system is in a state, but I desperately hope that everything goes right for you from here.

I've been in and out of the hospital all day. They found blood in her poo and she was in so much pain with her stomach that they put her on morphine. She looks awful too, really noticeable change from yesterday.

Biopsy result is back, and through third hand info I've got, it sounds like bowel cancer along with the liver cancer.

While I was just with her, we had a visit from Palliative care. I just looked up what that is, and it's for terminally ill patients.

We've both been bawling our eyes out today, just absolutely devastated. Apparently they're having what they call a big meeting soon to decide what the course of treatment can be, and hopefully moving her up to the ward she should never have been disclcharged form in the first place.

I don't know what to do, she wants to come home but at this point I'm wondering if she's even going to be around much longer at all. For strawberry float sake.

There's just no words. I can't even imagine what you are both going through.

All I can do is say I have my fingers crossed for you both and that we are all here if you need us.

strawberry float man, that's terrible.

I don't want to give any kind of false hope, but at the same time it might reassure you, just a tiny bit, that palliative doesn't always mean end-of-life care. That's how it's often used, but strictly it's about pain relief and how to cope with your condition, which it sounds like she very much needs. Don't tie yourself up in knots before they tell you for sure what the situation is.

You're both going through so so much and I can't even begin to imagine how hard this must be. Hopefully the pallative care mention was more a just in case (as people decide not to take treatment) and you hear back about the meeting they mentioned soon.

My dad wasn't given it until around 3 days before he passed, for most of his illness he was denied it and we were left to cope on our own.

Hello Victor. Just read through your recent posts. So very, very sorry for you both. I desperately hope that there is an upside of sorts for you both. For what it is worth I will be thinking of you and hoping. I am not religious, in the traditional sense, otherwise I would say praying… but I will have you both in my thoughts. Take great care of your wife and, also, great care of yourself.

That is utterly devastating, Victor. I can't even begin to imagine the pain you both must be in right now.

Wishing you peace.

Just dropping in to say I'm sorry friend. I won't pretend I have any wisdom to offer but I just wish you all the very best.

Thanks everyone. She got moved to a much better private room last night, which is in the gastroenterology department. The one she was in previously before they discharged her. The difference in there with the care is night and day. Much happier leaving her there last night than the mad House she had been in for the last week.

Waking up is the worst thing, that split second where you forget what's going on, then you remember and it's gooseberry fool.
