Destiny 2 open beta extended

Destiny 2's open beta will now be available for a little longer - until 1am on Wednesday 26th July (that's 6pm Pacific time on Tuesday 25th).

The trial was previously set to end at 5am UK time this morning.

Developer Bungie said this extension was for "additional testing". The original Destiny had its beta extended in a similar way.

I had a play of this over the weekend (surprised at the download size, only ~350mb). Graphically it's a bit hit and miss, some parts look lovely and some parts look average. I'll probably end up doing what I did with Destiny 1, which was wait over a year and then get the deluxe version with all the DLC...and then barely play it before trading it in :fp:

I just don't think these kind of games are my cup of tea anymore :(

It's looking better for sure but I cannot gauge how much content there actually is going to be. Like, I saw one of the '"adventures" was to collect Vex data, that was never interesting or fun but atleast it seems to lead on to something more.

There's some interesting new details in there:
-'The beta did not contain the final implementation of how Energy weapons work against AI combatants with elemental shields; when the shield is depleted, it explodes, nuking any enemies that happen to be nearby'

- Nightfall strikes now have a time limit (varying by Strike; one example was 13 minutes) so efficiency and settling on a strategy beforehand will be important

- There are over 80 missions and (PVE) activities, and each is substantial in length, challenge, story and reward

- There's so much new content that at one point in development they realised they had more content than progression (something they've subsequently fixed)

There were apparently a few other things revealed to the Edge team visiting Bungie but that they were asked not to reveal; one involves the Hunter class and left the reviewers happy that the class will shape up well. Supers and grenades were also mentioned, and whilst they recharge faster than the beta, it seems we'll be encouraged to recharge them more quickly through aggressive play: an example given was a Warlock exotic chest that lets you hover in the air (sounding a little like Empyrrean Bellicose) where kills whilst hovering will quickly recharge your grenade.
Overall, the impression of the campaign sounds very good - lots to do, and a lot more to find. Sounds very encouraging!

Oh yeah because nothing makes a game better like time limits :fp: .

They're falling into the same trap of The Division and starting to listen to the sweaty hardcore few who insist on a game being punishingly hard and all that does is just make the game a frustrating shitshow for people who don't fancy grinding for 5 hours a day for the best kit because of little obstacles like a job or kids.

The random nature of weapons and armour has been dropped which is great as it was bloody annoying to finally get an item you wanted only for it to have piss poor stats.

*So* much. I hate time limits in games. Sure, it's fine to time your gamesplay, get an achievement for a quick completion and time a speedrun or whatever... but otherwise it's just not - for me - enjoyable. It's more like work than fun.

I'll be taking some punishment with a Hunter before levelling the other classes.

Are there any good pre-order deals for this on PS4? I pre-ordered with Amazon to get the early beta code, but at £45.99 I'm hoping there's a cheaper option out there.

Think that trailer has swayed me to buy it. Might nip down to Game at the weekend to trade in stuff for PSN credit and get the digital deluxe edition :slol:

I hope we can get the team back together as this will be fantastic.
