New emote that can only be purchased directly from the Eververse store with cash.
Cannot be obtained any way besides a direct cash purchase.

It's available for direct purchase for 1100 silver, which works out to $10 in real money. Sorry, bright dust not accepted.

Cosmetic items so it doesn't really bother me.

You say that, but isn't that the kind of attitude that caused the eververse to ruin a lot of the loot?

It's the kind of attitude that made shaders single use only items.

Which loot specifically? I'm not particularly bothered about emotes, ships, shaders or weapon ornaments since they pop up in the engrams you get every time you fill the XP bar after level 20. A few months ago they added some Eververse stuff to the pool of loot that drops in most activities and with the Warmind update they added a new thing that gives you a bunch of Eververse items from a specific selection with your first bright engram every week after the reset, as well as the other stuff.

That's exactly my point. It's a loot game, so by taking away rewards from gameplay and making them paid it effectively gives you less loot to hunt.

Saying that I wouldn't mind if the content updates were free, like Fornite or Overwatch, but they're not, so it's not like it's even funding content updates, it's just lining Activision's pockets.

Didn't realise you were forced to buy them.

You're not 'forced' to buy anything.

But that's not really relevant to what I was saying anyway.

If you have less loot to chase in a game that is designed around chasing loot then it makes the game worse.

Example:

do a bunch of really hard challenges and get this cool iron banner emote which shows everyone what you've achieved

Or

Buy the emote with money, which shows everyone you have too much spare income.

The first option sounds much more beneficial to the game to me as it makes the item more socially relevant in the game space and gives players more reason to want to play your game.

If they were selling exclusive exotic weapons and armour then that would be something to actually get wound up about.

Well that's like, your opinion man.

But I for one would not be okay if they made all the armour puke green and then offered nice shaders for sale with the excuse of "you don't have to buy them" because like it or not cosmetics are a big part of the game, the character UI is entirely designed around them.

I still remember Pete's yellow and green shader from destiny 1 he wore for the entire duration of that game

No way. You’re chopping and changing armour like nobodies business on the way up the light levels. It’s only when you get towards the end of the grind, that you may - may - start to give a gooseberry fool about what you look like to other people...by which point you’ve amassed several shitloads of shaders anyway.

I only chose that combo as I like to try and make my characters look as shitty as I can as I really don't see the point on spending ages trying to make what is a pretty generic character model look cool.

You might have amassed shitloads of shaders, but chances are they're all different shaders. If you want to keep all your armour matching then chances are you won't have enough of the same single shader you need.
Plus if you change your armour and want to restore your colour scheme, then what? You've used your shaders on the last batch of armour.

There's also the matter that they purposefully removed a feature that the first game had purely so they could monetise it in the sequel because they knew people cared about it. That's just scummy practice.

I've got multiple shitloads of multiple shaders to the point where that portion of the inventory is constantly full and I'm having to delete some whenever I get a new one. That's more irritating than a tiny selection of them being in Eververse (which you still have a change getting anyway without paying.

Maf you keep ignoring people's factual criticisms by citing your own personal preferences.

Fact is that loot is less diverse and less interesting than the first game. That in turn makes the loot grind less fun.

There's a reason so many people from D1 have stopped playing

Because I don't care  When I play I'm not grinding for good looking loot, I just want higher level stuff to infuse into my current set up so I can get through all of Escalation Protocol.

When you look at all of Destiny 2's problems Eververse is near the bottom of the list.

It's at the bottom of the list for you.

Eververse isn't the core of the problem, but it's a part of the problem which is: loot being less interesting and varied and the way you earn loot being less interesting and varied.

Eververse just adds to that problem, and not everyone cares about cosmetic stuff but a lot of people clearly do, or games with cosmetic only micro transactions wouldn't do well.

Has to involve the Fallen, then. Probably Mara Sov too who is totally not dead, and her brother as well. Be cool if we get a Reef patrol area since I thought that location was totally wasted as just a social area in D1.
