My friends/family raid team feels like it's struggling.

We've had 2 attempts since it opened - finding a night when 6 can allign (and Bungie haven't turned the game off) has been hard, and the drive to get into the raid doesn't feel there. (We've seen 2 encounters other than the 1st bit ...The B**** and The G********)

It's just...empty and meaningless? No sense of place, or narrative interest in playing what feels effectively like Banzai

Because it’s the exact same damn game. I’m quickly boring of this and so are my Destiny buds. The end game feels less than it did in D1 and that is maddening.

There seems zero reason to get a higher level, like Hexx said, what’s the narrative for doing so? Why are we doing this?

Totally agree, I was bored after about a week, I actually think this is worse than D1, I enjoyed the crucible a lot more in that and the strikes were far more interesting. Urgh, this is actually pretty gooseberry fool :(

Just wait until tomorrow where it will reset everything so you can get "powerful engram" by doing the activities. Also, if the new gear is higher than what you have and check if it's got a legendary mod attached. If yes, infuse to your current gear or replace, but if not put a legendary mod on the new gear and infuse to boost up your Power/Light.

It seems simple enough to do it.

This guide explains very simple how to do in each room and the bath room is so very simple!

Yeah it's weird how Leviathan doesn't have any bearing on the story at all compared to the other raids.

Vault of Glass - stop the Vex's time fuckery and destroy Atheon
Crota's End - climax of the Dark Below's story and links to the Taken King
Skolas' Revenge - not a raid obviously, but was positioned as equal to that by Bungie and the climax of the House of Wolves story
King's Fall - climax of the Taken King's story
Wrath of the Machine - climax of Rise of Iron's story
Leviathan - just a bit of bants from Calus since you actually fight a fake robot version of him? Huge, planet-eating ship thing rocks up next to Nessus and no one gives a gooseberry fool?

Calus turning up was mentioned in Destiny 1, as well as a few of the adventures in D2. There are lore explanations for his "make up": he found the endless void, the darkness and accepted its gifts. There is a strong worm theme throughout the raid and in the lore surrounding Calus... Like the Hive. The other realm he teleports you to could be his throne realm; he's not defeated properly until you kill him here.

That said, the raid doesn't feel very "cabal". I always had them down as the bulky space engineers that did things very mechanically... Not space magic and convoluted.

The raid is difficult when you're doing it the first few times - just like they were with the other raids. The difference here is that it's not fun, not rewarding, thematically makes no sense, is unforgiving and there isn't a simple checkpoint system.

I think we should all watch the guide and keep giving the raid a go until we complete it at least once. Once we get the patterns down for each room it shouldn't be that hard to complete.

There is a checkpoint system but it's different from previous raids:

It saves your progress, but you have to move back to the part you were at, either by doing the Castellum again and opening the door, or going through the Underbelly if you know where you're going.

Regarding the difficulty of the raid:

We did it in three attempts. First time was last week when we did the Castellum and the Gardens. Sunday we did the Gauntlet and Baths pretty quickly and the Gardens after 4 or 5 attempts. The boss took us about two hours Sunday and two years yesterday. The boss isn't hard in terms of damage or health but is mechanically quite demanding and demands a good run from everyone to beat.

I was surprised at how much easier the Gardens were second time around. As long as you don't mess up by killing a dog earlier or having people not get back to the safe room in time, giving everyone their own dogs should mean you get it within the four rounds. I can't imagine the Baths causing anyone any trouble after you know what to do, and the Gauntlet isn't that bad either. I don't necessarily think it's a hard raid, just one with a big focus on call outs and communication. You can't just chat during it, as there are very few sections which are combat heavy (the Castellum really, and half the team in the Throne Room during Calus

Stepping back for a second - my raid team went in completely blind.

While it may be "simple" when you know what you're doing, the 2 we've tried (G and B) are annoying nonsense.

It was fun to work out mechanics/puzzle - but also completely nonsense (spoilers for B in case people care) in the world and the lack of any "narrative" or logical reason to be there (to guide your thinking) makes it much harder to solve.

Oh we need to stand on all 4 switches for stuff to happen...ok...

We need to kill the lanterns...um...why?

And why when they're in a right position? Why are they immune/not immune?

Took us a long time of runs changing things again and again to work out - the lack of structure or any decent feedback made it much much harder...

I got it from a random engram even before the event. I really like it, it has 13 in the chamber if you choose a different upgrade, lets you shoot for ever and has really good consistent DPS.

Btw I got tractor cannon the other day, SO FUN :-D

And it's actually quite useful for crowd control. Like it can pop multiple shields at once because it's aoe is so massive.
