They aren’t.
If Virgin trains banned possession of the DM then you’d have a point. All they have done is stop supplying it.
I would agree with you, Moggy, were it not for the words that Virgin Trains used in their staff update:
Drew McMillan, head of colleague communication and engagement at Virgin wrote:Thousands of people choose to read the Daily Mail every day. But they will no longer be reading it courtesy of VT.
"There's been considerable concern raised by colleagues about the Mail's editorial position on issues such as immigration, LGBT rights and unemployment.
I'm intrigued as to what Virgin Trains feels the Daily Mail's position is on LGBT rights and unemployment is; what has made them think that their customers should not be able to buy the Mail on Virgin Trains because of it?
If Virgin Trains simply switched their newspaper availability from, say, the Mail to the Mirror then fair enough. The additional comms and choice of wording seems a little "we know better than you do", though.
Don't get me wrong - I am not sticking up for the Daily Mail - but I am apprehensive about a major UK company being so vocal about what political opinions they feel their customers should and shouldn't read about.
FAKE EDIT: Preezy and Hexx, I have hopefully rsponded to your points with this reply, too?
