If people are largely voting on their own perceived self-interest our democracy is pretty much strawberry floated. Without people willing to consider and make decisions in the interest of all then there is no impetus for governments to do likewise.

That's how the country seems to be at the moment, not just politically, but walking about people are paying less attention to those around them, I'm constantly getting arse holes walk in front of out of shops without looking. Same in the car people just do what they want, strawberry float other people they don't matter.

If you don't think people have always done this you're deluded. Even in the time of Attlee the general public weren't saints, they knew that massive social programs would also benefit them as individuals.

Move to a liberal country like the UK, Netherlands or Germany but then vote for their fellow countrymen to have a dictatorship. Makes sense.

By exiting democracy the Turks have finally taken back control. Good for them.

Intellectual myopia in the extreme. His supporters have delivered him this victory without countenancing the fact that they do not know the future and might change their minds, let alone the fact that this is constitutional change that will apply to every president going forward regardless of whether they like them or not.

Of course, to give people some credit, it probably wouldn't have happened if he wasn't in control of the media.

People are stupid enough, if May or someone did a referendum on not having to have any more voting again an we could all just get on with life and not have to worry about what those politicians were doing, how we would better serve the people if we didn't have to worry about annoying them and being voted out a whole load of idiots would vote for it as "well dat sounds like way less annoying, I hate having to go a voting station for 5 minutes."
