I have to say though he does have a likeable quality and I can't put my finger on it. I obviously don't agree with his politics, at all  but he is quick thinking from what I've seen of him on shows like Question Time and always has a good retort. They're nearly always laughable though rather than putting any kind of good point across

I always think that he’s very similar to Boris. While not the buffoon character that Boris plays, he has that posh boy “charm” that people seem to find amusing.

He would be perfect casting if Richard Curtis made a Britcom about the Tory party.

He's more like Ann Widdecombe in my opinion. Both are conviction politicians with very strong religious beliefs, and both found popularity with the public as "the kooky eccentric" (Widdecombe on Strictly, JRM with his memes).

I can't stand JRM - but I think he gets some credit for being (relatively :P) straight faced about what he thinks/believes.

Susie Boniface on Question Time seriously embarrassed Richard Burgon with the question on if he took the 10% payrise. Timing was great with Lucas and Rees-Mogg saying they didn't.

A n***** in the woodpile or fence is a dated American figure of speech[1] meaning "some fact of considerable importance that is not disclosed—something suspicious or wrong"

She told the BBC: "The comment was totally unintentional. I apologise unreservedly for any offence caused."

That's not an apology.

It's the old, classic "sorry I was caught, but I'm not sorry for saying it" apology.

The phrase is so antiquated, I think that's what's most surprising. Would be interesting to know where and how it came into her lexicon. It's not even one of ours by the looks of it.

Christ, you'd have thought every politician should have the decency (or failing that, at least have enough common sense) to not use the n word at all in this day and age. Where did she even pick that phrase up? Disgusting.

At least only a month ago she didn't have to distance herself from racist remarks made by her partner.

Oh no, wait, she did. :fp:
