Left the BNP when he found out they were racist. Yeah ok....

I have watched a lot of Tommy Robinson speeches on YouTube, read his twitter and I have a bootleg copy of his book to read (I didn't want to pay for it and potentially fund a racist). I haven't seen anything yet I'd consider as racist.

His explanation around joining the BNP sounded believable to me. He has said that when he joined he was naive to think they were a legitimate political party. I think he said that when he went to meetings he discovered it was racist skinheads which was why he left. He said he saw the same type of people joining the EDL which is why he left them too.

I have read about his football hooligan days, I don't approve of that but do know a few ex-hooligans through work and it is possible for them to change. Not sure about mortgage fraud, I have only heard his side of the story on that.

I can't excuse the domestic violence against his girlfriend and the police officer either. I put it in context of myself at that age (he would have been 23) and he can't really put that down to being young and stupid.

He'd become so enraged when he sees your brown ring that he'll smash it to pieces.

Not that way we'd be doing it. He'd be so ashamed of his brown ring, he'd want it punishing and coated white.

Tommy Robinson is constantly in trouble with the law. Add Mortgage fraud and contempt of court to that list. Hardly the type of person who should be revered.

Although I'm not sure he has said anything racist. But he clearly has a shitty, counterintuitive agenda and doesn't seem to learn anything from his experiences. He is basically is doing what the terrorist want to achieve, spreading suspicion, division and hate.

Here's a simple litmus test: if you have to constantly remind everyone that Islam isn't a race!!!, you're a racist.

Generally I agree with you, but he also raises some awkward and interesting questions about Islam, the types of preachers that mosques have endorsed and the impact it has had on poor communities.

Moggy in relation to Robinson joining the BNP at age 23, I don't really see that as much different to students joining various communist groups at uni in a certain respect. I can see how from his background he may have felt the BNP represented his concerns without realising the background and intentions of their leadership. As for the BFP, he joined them with the intention of focusing on Islam as an ideology rather focusing on race issues.

Ok dude, I absolutely disagree with you but it's pointless arguing. To me he's a very obviously racist and criminal banana split. To you he's "interesting". Each to their own (as Yaxley-Lennon might say).

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't necessarily like the bloke. He raises certain issues that need tackling but he doesn't have the answers. I wouldn't say I like the guy, but looking into his past I can't see anything that stands out that he has said that seems racist. There are certainly good reasons to believe that he is, the general narrative that everyone has is that he is racist, I just can't see the smoking gun if you know what I mean.

Tbf, someone I knew at University in freshers week signed up to The Socialist Party because they thought it was a social party group.

It's equally likely that the guy is smart enough not to rattle off his real opinions. The guy has been in three racist organisations, one of which he created, on top of being linked to Britain First. As far as I'm concerned the guy doesn't have any legitimate complaints and is just basically making community tensions worse. He doesn't get the benefit of the doubt.

He created the English Defence League, now correct me if I'm wrong but it probably didn't start out as a place to discuss the relative merits of Sol Campbell over Rio Ferdinand at the centre of a back 3.

The BNP were pretty well known in 2003-2004 when he was a member. He also stayed an entire year without realising? He then joined another racist far right group. Then he founded his own nationalist group. All while beating his girlfriend, committing fraud and going to America using somebody else's passport.

He's either the thickest banana split that's ever lived, or a wrong 'un.

Would you believe that your uni acquaintance was not far left if they had joined the Socialist Party, stayed for a year, then joined the Communist Party, before founding the English Socialist League?

Christ, that is disgusting how much money is being given to make this deal possible.

Who in their right mind in the UK can support the Tories after all this?

Incidentally, this is close to the amount needed to give that nurse and her colleagues the rise Teresa May said they could not have. It must be from the Magic Keep the Conservatives in Power Money Tree.
