"We will also invest in driverless technology, a project the Labour party knows something about"

Because of lower National Insurance contributions from self-employed workers, NI contributions will now rise by 1% to 10% from April 2018. That will then rise again to 11% in 2019.

Corbyn is so disjointed, stuttery, too scripted and not really replying directly to the budget at all. He just doesn't have it in him to react on the fly.

Tory front bent all sitting there with a 'wtf is he going on about' look on their faces. Labour backbenchers texting or left, Salmond reading the budget.

Probably wondering why it isn't just a single piece of paper with "The oil will pay for everything" written on it.

So we're raising the tax of the self-employed whilst cutting the tax of companies like DPD that exploit them? Seems fair.

That's the thing about the Conservatives. They talk a good game about constraint but always find some extra cash for those who least need it.

Where was that? I don't recall seeing anything about cuts for corporate taxes.

Well, not in this budget in particular. I was talking about the large corporation tax cuts they have scheduled for the future. Talking about helping the 'just about managing' is complete bunk when you are forcing up rates on SMEs and low earning self-employed.

This is not fiscal constraint, it is an ideological choice. They had a choice of who should bear the burden and who should get relief and it is very clear what side they have come down on.

So I'm £8.50 better off a month according to the BBC budget calculator.

Budget not going down well with The Sun, Star, Mirror or Telegraph tomorrow. Unhappy for going back on a previous pledge (Telegraph) and the others for clobbering their 'White Van Man' readerships.

Government getting the bollocking from the press Corbyn failed to capitalise on earlier today.

Corbyn wasn't able to really respond due to being urgently rushed to the burns unit.
