Found this an interesting watch and I didn't realise things in France were so bad at the moment.

Why would you post a Sargon of Akkad video? He's a gamergater, anti feminist, libertarian moron.

I don't agree what all he has to say but look to get information from lots of sources and happened to find his video an eye opener to how bad things in France are.

You can never rule anything out, but for Le Pen to win the pollsters would have to be monumentally wrong &/or opinion would have to swing about 10 points to Le Pen in the next 2 weeks to at least tie it up.

She's just too right wing, the name too toxic, to send her over the finish line.

What with that and David Wolfe I think I've royally strawberry floated up my YT recommended list tonight.

That video is suggesting all those attacks shown are perpetrated by poor, Islamic immigrants which is absolutely not true (He basically states it roughly 4:00 in). The whole premise of that video is based on falsehood.

Visit France - it's strawberry floating fine. Cowards that vote for far-right politicians because they're scared of a few nutcases can get strawberry floated.

Everyone assumed Remain was a sure thing as well, even to the point Nigel Farage conceded defeat partway through the count :dread:

Farage is always wrong. Hence his 7 separate attempts at getting a seat in Westminster.

I legitimately don't think the polls are wrong on this one, public opinion would have to shift to such an extent it would be ridiculous. Brexit was close; the UK was practically right down the middle, or in the realms of a few percentage points, in the weeks leading up to it.

Well fortunately nobody else in the world has a system wherein the person who recieves less votes wins.

I called both Brexit and Trump.

Didn't get the GE in 2015 though, guessed wrong on that one.

Yeah, all the polls (ha, polls) have him winning comfortably in the second round.

The poll appeared pretty accurate for the first round though.

I find it an odd system to have a two week gap and another round of voting. Why not simply ask people for their first, second and third choices.

I think it's a brilliant system. Wouldn't work over here as we have a two (one?) party system, but with 11 people standing this time in France, the first vote is who you want in, the second is essentially who you don't.

Yeah I suppose for selecting a president it works. You couldn't do it here as despite how many people think when voting and the way the press act we don't select a country leader. If we selected a president then I think we would have a lot people standing and would see similar spreads of results like you see in places like France.

In fact if we look at the 2015 election and it was a national vote it would have gone to a second round under French rules.
Cameron 36.9%
Milliband 30.4%
Farage 12.6%
Clegg 7.9%
Sturgeon 4.7%
Bennett 3.8%

Everyone else below 1% each.

I had no idea until this evening that macron was an independent candidate. This is something that is impossible to happen here which I think is a shame.

However the French are now strawberry floated whoever becomes president. The parliamentary elections are in July. Whoever becomes president will be curtailed and held up in parliament. If Le Pen wins, then the far right are not expected to have many seats, they currently only have two and if Macron wins then, well he currently doesn't have any seats and there's no indication that he will have many people, if any contesting seats for his new party. Both will likely have to make big deals with the traditional parties who are currently still expected to maintain most of the seats.
